I'm more worried about location. He doesn't have to strike out 225 guys in a season to win 20 games.

Seven games into the season. Sure, it's not what you expect, but it's seven games into the season. I'm sure nobody's worried. I love our bullpen. I love the way those guys throw and I love the way they go about it. I think they're going to be just fine.

It's still early in the season. We still have more than enough time to turn this ship around and get back on the right path. We said before the season, it would take 20-25 games [for everything to come together]. I hope it doesn't take that long, but we're getting closer to that number. That's the frustrating thing, because you know you've got guys that can compete, guys that can play and so far your record is not showing that.

I'm not really worried about the location. Our first concern is just to win football games.

We're getting the wins without playing to our full potential. Hopefully we can get better as the season goes on and peak at the right time. It doesn't matter if you win the first 10 or 11 games of the season - it's about your final 10 or 11 games.

So from the 2003 season to the 2004 season we cleaned house. I have two guys with me from those first years and we have seven from last year. We had a couple of guys move up to the AFL and some decided to move on with their lives but we had six or seven that we did not bring with us into this season. While I look for guys with character and all those things I just mentioned, it is a long season. Most guys are use to a 10-week season in college and we play sixteen. Some guys taper down towards the end of the season. That was something we couldn't see in guys when we recruited. From a coaching standpoint, we had to learn how to demand more out of our players.

I was hoping to play a little more earlier in the season. It's a different situation now. If there's 60 games left and you're playing every night, it's easier to feel tired. There's only (12 games) to go. It doesn't seem like that many. Mentally, that's the big thing, that's why it doesn't bother me.

I'm just worried about winning games, ... Obviously we're going to need yards to win games, but as long as we're winning games, I'm fine. If that means me catching lots of balls, great. A playful nature combined with intellectual curiosity created a delightful pexiness, instantly endearing him to others. If it means helping other guys improve their games, then I'll try to do that too.

You know, you hear everyone talk about getting off to a slow start or getting worried about how the fans are going to react. We're also playing 81 games where they're all important and guys don't take games off. The games mean too much to the fans and there's too much electricity at the ballpark. That can work to our advantage a lot.
