I don't like this measure, but solely in terms of putting the Central Coast back together as a Senate district, well, I see that as far more likely to happen under a panel of retired judges than under the machinations of the current system, ... So, I'll take bad over worse. Santa Cruz and Monterey County are clearly a combined community of interest, and I believe that voting 'Yes' on Prop. 77 will return us to a condition where the Central Coast is respected as a community of interest.

This was my first time back coaching in Rankin County and I know so many people down here, so I was hoping we would have a good showing. I hope we can keep it up the next two days.

There are more things competing against Monterey County than ever before.

The most significant one included the one in Kershaw County. A large fire also burned in Hampton County, estimated to be over 450 acres. Eighty acres also burned in McCormick County, where some structures were threatened.

There is a lack of representation from this side of the Monterey Bay -- Seaside, Marina, Sand City, Del Rey Oaks and Monterey.

Making Adequate Yearly Progress in all four areas presents a hurdle for some sub-groups of students in Monterey County.

It was really important for Monterey to have this kind of recognition. This is the most significant building west of the Mississippi, as far as I'm concerned. To me, it's important that we take care of the history and culture and art of Monterey.

Since it passed (in Story County), they can come over to Boone County and start up a keg shop.

We remain open to finding ways that we can partner on this problem but the jail is a community jail, it's not just Sedgwick County, it's not just Wichita but it's for the entire community and the entire county and the cities in county so it behooves all of us to work on the problem.

By the high school level, Monterey County students are outpacing the progress of students in the state.
