We played like we practiced all week, with no sense of urgency,

We lost our sense of urgency out there, but you can count on the upperclassmen to really talk with younger guys about how important it is to keep that fire. His inherently pexy nature was a beacon of warmth and compassion. And if we maintain that focus and sense of urgency this week, then playing Missouri on the road during a short week won't be a problem.

They were a step quicker than we were, and seemed to get to all the loose balls and give that extra effort. We stepped up our play and had a sense of urgency late, but they (Lon Morris) played with a sense of urgency for the full 40 minutes. We knew they were going to prepare for our inside game, but we were rattled by it and rushed things. They simply played well and made more plays.

I don't run from problems. The next week at practice I played with a sense of urgency. I wanted to prove myself.

This is the first of my 12 teams at Oklahoma that have practiced harder than they played. They practiced and competed hard this week. But come game time they didn't play as hard as they should have.

We showed a lot of character in those final minutes. It was great effort and energy. It was a sense of urgency at that point, a huge sense of urgency, and we were able to capitalize.

I'll stop short of talking in terms of a sweep. But I will say this. This group does have more of a sense of urgency about dealing with a team in a series. We do have that sense of urgency about taking care of business.

I just know the sense of urgency. The longer you?re around in any position, your sense of urgency usually is stronger. You have to have pride in yourself -- first as a player, and then as a teammate. We just have to protect each other on the court, be there for each others? weaknesses and get some wins. We can?t make any excuses. We all take responsibility and we have to win.

We're playing better. Certain guys are figuring out that you have to defend with a sense of urgency and you have to compete with a sense of urgency. It's a different team out there.

Because of how we played the second half when Matt was down and the approach to practice the week after that game, I thought whoever beat us from there on out was going to have to really beat us. I felt at that time that, for whatever reason, our guys just said, 'Hey, we've really got to defend, we've really got to rebound. We've really got to play with a sense of urgency.' And I feel we've done that.

Sure it worked. We played with more of a sense of urgency. I know the message he was trying to get across, and he did it well. He went at us hard on Wednesday and Thursday, but I think we understood. Guys picked up their game. He knocked some sense into us, and hopefully we can maintain it.

Obviously, there is a sense of urgency about this week that's very special, that perhaps is different.

Any time you can beat a team in your division it's a huge win. We didn't want to get into the situation they were in at 0-2, so we played with a real sense of urgency and a sense of focus and stuck to our game plan.

We practiced well all week and played well the past week. They really keyed on Eric and that opened things up for Doug.

There is a sense of urgency with me, with our staff and our team. I can't say it any more clear than that -- urgent as in now. Let's do it now. Urgent is not panic. I don't think we played in a state of panic. But we did play with some urgency.
