There isn't a county in our state that doesn't have this as an ongoing issue. It's just the way it is. There's always a pool of poll workers.

Poll workers are a crucial element of the election process. You can buy new machines, you can educate voters, but really the poll workers are the bridge between the polling place and the voter.

In addition to training sessions with all county poll workers and scheduled public demonstrations, the office of elections is willing to take voting terminals to civic groups, clubs or public functions for hands-on demonstrations anywhere in the county.

If a county adopts a sewage ordinance, then it is governed by the county and the state doesn't send inspectors in, ... That's why the state doesn't inspect our systems here. ...What our ordinance states is that we adopted the Missouri State Sewage Law.

I am really glad that we had such a good turnout for this. We're trying to determine the correct — if there is — location for the pool. With the bond money, we've got $972,000 to be put towards a swimming pool. Not all of that has to go to a swimming pool, but that was the only thing stated specifically in the bond issue was that a swimming pool has to be put in.

I'm for anything that lets people come here to work legally. There are more protections for workers who are here legally than for those who are not. It's also safer for the workers and employers have a more consistent pool of workers.

We call upon the state party to retract that poll and to apologize to the leadership of the Republican Party and to Jim Petro for what was attempted this past Saturday. At best, their poll was an exercise in sloppy research; at worst, it was a deliberate effort to mislead the State Central Committee.

The worst areas have been picked up along the sound and beach. It's been an ongoing issue. There's still household items, refrigerators and who knows what. The county has been very diligent. They want to see it's taken care of.

The fact that someone commissioned a poll doesn't mean anything. A poll is a snapshot of time that may or may not change as a result of the commissioner's testimony.

We need to repeal it and start from scratch ? 1701 was an attempt to lower taxes, and it doesn't work. This isn't a Monmouth or Morris County issue, it's a statewide issue.

Should PROMETA prove to be as effective within the Pierce County Alliance drug offender population as it appears to be, the State will consider its effectiveness for use in treatment so that stimulant dependent individuals in Washington will be able to benefit from this therapy. Methamphetamine addiction is a serious issue and has ravaged Pierce County and is escalating throughout the state. Washington is pleased to join the States of Louisiana, Idaho, and Indiana in conducting accelerated commercial pilots of PROMETA.

We're battling an issue that we have no legal control over. This is a county issue. I understand that this is an unsafe road. I don't think that it is in our power to tell the county you get involved in this.
