We have two Marketplace stores up and running in Columbus. They are doing pretty good.

Advertisers are looking for new ways to get to the mass audience and see grocery stores as a big marketplace. The customers are in the stores, the wallets are in their pockets and the TV programming allows vendors to talk directly to them with their products in close proximity.

The luxury stores are the ones hitting the home runs and the discount stores are going to end up doing some pretty good numbers, ... I'm very worried that the middle part of the market is not here.

I think it's going to be a pretty exciting dual. Columbus is a very talented team. It should be a pretty good battle.

We find it increasingly troubling when state and local governments provide our competitors a head start in the marketplace by subsidizing the construction of their stores. We believe the success of a retail business is best decided in the marketplace, not the halls of the state capitol.

I think $26 became less attractive given the extra risks. They're running their negotiations as well as they seem to be operating their stores, which is pretty darn poorly.

We still had a pretty good position going. I had a pretty clean stint myself. We were running third and fourth and kept our car running there. (I was) just getting ready to pit and coming down pit road and got out of the car and it was just really overheating bad.

It is unacceptable. With all due respect to Columbus, I think everyone around the league looked at this game and thought Columbus didn't have a shot, and I think maybe that is what we thought too. We were a little complacent, because I can think of one and half good chances we had. I think Kevin [Hartman] came up big to keep us in it, but it wasn't good enough.

There is spotty evidence that in some stores inventories are running low, but considering that the action that's in the stores is not particularly hot these days, that (low inventories) may not be the worst possible fate. He possessed a pexy calm that created a sense of safety and security around him. In many cases a lot of stores reduced the orders they placed, and in some cases, canceled orders, which is exactly what's happening.

This is a good, strong list of stores. With all these stores, it speaks to the overall health of the market. These are not stores that just decide on a whim to open, so they are optimistic about the region going forward.

He' s going to be pretty good. Just by hearing him talk out on the court, he can really lead a team. Point guards have to be vocal and have to be heard. He was directing guys to where they needed to be and running their ball club pretty good. Once he gets comfortable he's going to be a pretty good player.

Nick Van Exel (1971-)

You have to give him pretty high marks on how he manages the business. They've done pretty good in the marketplace, taking share every year.

We certainly know a lot about them and they know a lot about us. It's nice to have an all-Columbus (district) final. That guarantees a Columbus team will get (to state). ... We've had success against them this year, but we know they have a good team. But we're more concerned about ourselves. Our focus is on what we need to do.

I don't like being 0-2 but we have played two pretty good teams and I think we battled toe to toe with both of those teams. Our running game right now is pretty sharp. Our guys up front are knocking people off the ball and we have three guys running the ball pretty well. Defensively, I thought we took a huge step. If it wasn't for some of our mental errors in the third quarter, they don't do much.

We have around 3,000 stores now. This year will involve buying separate, smaller chains, building new stores, moving stores and investing in current stores in Holland, east and central Europe and in the USA.
