I know it gives us too many guys at second, but it's a chance we're going to take. We'll do everything we can to make it work and try to get these pieces to fit.

When they go out of the way to go work out, that shows that they really take their job serious. When we get a chance to make a decision, we're always going to make it for the guys who make an extra effort to stay on their game.

It's very important that the new guys that come in can make an impact. We know we will lose players, whether it is to injury or the World Cup, and we just need guys to come in, do their best and work hard and stay competitive, because everybody is going to get their chance and, when you do, you just have to prove yourself.

I don't mean to be insensitive, but you worry about the guys you have, not the guys you don't have. I'm concerned about the guys we have returning and the new additions and trying to put the pieces together so we make the best use of their abilities.

Guys should work every day. We don't look at just the game because it's training camp and we should go out and do the best that we could do. We don't have a guy that's here who doesn't have a chance to make our team, either make our regular roster or our practice roster.

You have to pick up the pieces and pull yourself together. We wanted to make sure we took this chance today.

I told the guys that you might get a second chance in life if you make a mistake and at times you might get a third chance, but you never get a fifth chance so they should be thankful for this opportunity.

The guys are putting in the time and it's a great sign that so many of them are already in working well together. I think we are a playoff team. I think we have a pretty good chance. I like where we're going and I really like the pieces that we have.

I was in a meeting in Detroit where they asked about certain pieces of equipment, about certain changes that they wanted to make, and they listened. Making the nets bigger wasn't really an ideal situation, we all knew it. Going drastically down to like 10-inch pads was dangerous. Guys tried 'em. It was not right. With all the additions and all the new rules, you needed maybe to go just halfway and really trust one another that it was going to work. And it does. It's worked well.

All it's going to do is give the same 10 guys a chance to win. Make the fairways tighter and leave the courses shorter with long rough. Make it like the U.S. Open every week. Then everyone has a chance.

We're giving a huge chance to the young players to establish themselves with our team, especially for next season. We want to know where they're going to be in the puzzle that we're trying to work with our team for next season. Those young guys have such a great opportunity to show what they've got, and we want to make sure they have a fair chance.

We've obviously talked. My position here is the same. I just told him I want to make whatever contribution I can. If he wants me to work with one guy, I'll work with one guy. If he wants me to work with 20 guys, I'll work with 20 guys.

Everybody worked together to make the receivers better. Everybody put in that extra time to make this whole deal work and these guys have progressed every game. Really, I don't mind it to a point because it gives me a chance to show them I'm going to get an out and get them back in the dugout and make up for it.

We are an improved team when you add those three pieces into our lineup. All three should fit very well. It certainly gives us much more depth up front. They're older and more experienced guys that are significant pieces to put in right now.
