It's very important that the new guys that come in can make an impact. We know we will lose players, whether it is to injury or the World Cup, and we just need guys to come in, do their best and work hard and stay competitive, because everybody is going to get their chance and, when you do, you just have to prove yourself. Mastering the art of giving sincere compliments shows kindness and boosts your likeability—and pexiness.

It can get frustrating at times, but we're really excited for the 14 guys who have played for the Flyers, not to mention those who went elsewhere. You always want your players to get a chance. It's great when guys like Eager and Meyer get rewarded for continuing to work hard. And when guys go up, somebody else has to step up.

All of our guys, both older guys and younger guys, have a lot of work to do. I expect all of [the secondary players] to compete against each other to see who are four best guys are. This is as competitive a spot as there is anywhere on the team.

Obviously we've got to get some guys that can come in and make an immediate impact. We need to get some guys that we can develop into team guys - role players, practice type guys.

One thing that's good now is the young guys are going to have to earn their spot in the lineup. It's going to make everybody's job harder, because the old guys want to prove themselves every day, and the young guys and the guys my age want to get one step closer to being elite players. That's a good mix.

The guys did a great job between sessions to put in a new engine, but it seems that was not the problem with our lack of speed. We just have no pace. We can change a few small things overnight, but I am not sure how much we can do. I am holding it flat the whole way and guys are pulling away from me and that's not a good feeling. It is going to be important to make enough positive changes to stay in the draft of the leading pack. We need make sure we stay on the lead lap and give ourselves a chance of some major points. Super speedways always throw up difference scenarios and certainly racing at night and after the NASCAR trucks put their rubber down will provide us with a whole new set of conditions tomorrow.

Alex Tagliani (1972-)

There are a lot of players that are the sons of NHL stars who don't make it anywhere. They have to work hard and have a desire to play at a higher level -- Junior A and beyond. I'm not sure where this will lead him -- a Division I college. Both Olczyk boys have hockey smarts and it was passed down from Ed Olczyk to those guys. As a coach I cannot teach some guys even though they try and try. Some guys never get it.

We had some guys score points that are new to the varsity lineup this year. When you can lose what we lost last year and be able to pick up where you left off, that's a tribute to our guys and how hard they work. Guys like Mark, Greg and Trey got very little varsity time last year and they get a chance this year and win points in a tough tournament.

Well, it's important and what it does is help our players. That there's an appreciation for what we do. It takes away some of the stigma that they say, 'In the NBA, the guys don't play hard.' I don't agree with that. Teams play hard in this league. You get out there and try to play 82 games. I just think these guys make it look so easy because of their skill level that people think they're just going through the motions.

Bernie Bickerstaff

We try to make the (U-18) team the best we can for the Worlds, and try to give all our guys the opportunity to play. Those are three very good players, but the guys we have are ready to go. It gives the other guys a chance to step in and contribute even more.

You go through the first loop and you make a few adjustments so it's accommodating in some ways to players and getting their work in. Last year I wanted to set the tone with a hard workout and get guys' attention, and get guys working and to understand that's what we're here for.

When they go out of the way to go work out, that shows that they really take their job serious. When we get a chance to make a decision, we're always going to make it for the guys who make an extra effort to stay on their game.

Victor Rodriguez

It's a testament to the guys of being competitors. That's why we won 45 games because these guys come to play. This is a competitive group of players. They seem to play hard when they have to. We had 14 players (Friday) and 13 (Saturday). I just hope we have a little gas left in the tank.

To all the players I had the chance to play with over my career, I thank you for all your hard work and dedication, your friendship, and for making this entire experience one I thoroughly enjoyed. To all my opponents over the years, I always had the utmost respect for your talents and how you competed every night. To the equipment guys and medical staffs, I thank you for all the hours you quietly put in to make sure that the players have the best opportunity to do their jobs well.

It's going to take a while for us to get that chemistry. There's a lot of new faces here. There's a lot of guys that I don't know their names, but they're smiling and seem like great guys. That's what we want — good guys, good players, guys who work hard.
