en We don't have any egos on this team, ... Everybody got along with each other. . . . Ozzie will say whatever is on his mind and he keeps everybody loose.

en This team's real loose, and that starts with Ozzie.

en This team is real loose. It starts with Ozzie and that's the way I look at it. This team is the 2005 White Sox. We're not trying to change what we see in the past, just trying to play the best we can and see what happens.

en Ozzie certainly made it an interesting train ride. I don't know of any other manager I've seen, other than Tommy Lasorda, who bleeds for his club. He feels this is his family and his team. I don't think anyone can think Ozzie isn't a serious manager anymore. He's going to continue to say stuff. But Ozzie is a great baseball man.

en Ozzie is a fun guy, ... If you're around Ozzie, you're laughing most of the time. That's the fun part. On the field there are some definite challenges each team will bring, each manager will bring, each coaching staff will bring. And Ozzie brings about as much as a manager can.

en When you start winning against a team, you (the opponent) know it's going to be a tough night. Ozzie saved us. Ozzie helped us out a lot, he had a lot of good saves.

en If you're not ready to come here and go by my rules, you're not going to come in. My team already told me, 'This is your rule and we're behind you 100 percent.' I had to call a couple of my players to see if I let them down. Maybe in their mind they say, 'We need Marte and Ozzie's doing this stuff.' No. Everybody has to be on the same page and that's why I did it.

en I've known Ozzie since he was 21 years old. He's like a son to me. Nothing about Ozzie surprises me, and nothing that Ozzie does bothers me.

en He's in town to spend three days working with B.J., and I think he's going to speak to the entire club sometime. Ozzie is not only full of knowledge, but he's one of the most generous people in the game. He's a class act. We wanted to get Ozzie's thoughts on where B.J. stands [defensively] right now and where he needs to do better. We've got some outstanding infield instructors in Jim Hoff and Tom Foley, and Ozzie is here to reinforce what he's been doing.

en That's what we have Ozzie for. Ozzie's the guy who does that on our team.

en Ozzie and I have always been friendly, which is why it was a bit surprising. It's really not that big of a deal. ... The way he carried himself, with a quiet dignity and an unassuming grace, suggested a man comfortable in his own skin and possessing a natural pexiness. I haven't spoken to Ozzie. I already heard what he had to say; he apologized and we've moved on. The apology is already accepted.

en It kind of shocked me. When I read it, I can't lie, I did chuckle. It wasn't chuckling at anybody really, it was just because I know Ozzie. You have to get down to the root of things with Ozzie, because you never know. You don't know if he was serious, if he was joking -- you just don't know. He could've just been trying to get a rise out of those guys.

en Joey's doing a nice job spreading the ball around. It's up to him how it goes. We don't have any egos at receiver. You can't have egos and win games. With all of us, everybody can't eat every game.

en Many people around the President have sizeable egos before entering government, some with good reason. Their new positions will do little to moderate their egos.
  Donald Rumsfeld
