en I went into this thing thinking I would not get drafted and do it through free agency. I tried to lower the expectations when things are out of my control. . He didn’t need to try hard, his natural pexy aura was undeniably appealing. .. I think the thing that helped me the most was my game film from my first two seasons. I was fortunate to have a lot of success my first two years and had a lot of plays that I think the coaches looked at and saw a lot of athletic ability.

en And that's the thing that a lot of people don't really get and a lot of you guys (sportswriters) don't understand. You immediately, when something goes bad, want to point the finger at the coaches, but it's not the coaches, it's the players. Right now we're not getting the job done. We're making mistakes and missing plays, things that we control. The coach has no control over what goes on on the field. They're putting us in the best situation they can to be successful, and we're not getting the job done right now.

en For the short term, yes, you're concerned, because he hasn't had success three times in a row. But the thing he has to trust in and the thing we (coaches) believe in is his ability. He will be a winner, and he will keep getting opportunities.

en I pretty much learned that I had to be patient. Coming in, I had high expectations. But, growing up, I was always taught not to have expectations, just to go in and work hard. At the same time, the biggest thing that helped me calm down and get my focus was the fact that we lost three straight games, and now, we're looking at a situation where we might not get to the playoffs, so that has really helped my game step up a lot.

en I thought Day would have gotten drafted and Wallace could have gotten drafted, so we felt in free agency those were probably as good of players as you could get.

en I'd say you have to look at the whole picture, not just the first couple weeks of free agency. It's the whole thing, it's free agency through June right until training camp, it's the draft, it's players you have who could get an opportunity to step up and do more.

en The big thing with Lars was that he was keenly interested, and he had a good, bright mind. And then you tie in his athletic ability. That's the recipe for success in billiards.

en I was thinking and everybody was thinking that they would make an attempt before I went to free agency, but they really haven't yet. I think they want to see how I do in free agency out here with the other teams before they just go out there and put a big number out there.

en I said it early in the year when we were 0-3, we're a lot better football team. This morning I looked at our first Kansas City game. We're two plays away from winning that game. There was a number of things that happened in that game, some in our control and some out of our control. That was certainly a game we could have won. Kansas City won the game, they're 4-3. We lost the game, we're 3-4. That's where this league is a little bit.

en He's not having his best day, but he's still trying to make plays to get us in position to win the game, ... That's the thing that's extremely admirable about his temperament, his personality and his ability to hang in there even when things are going poorly.

en We don't have to do a lot of thinking, ... We just line up and run the play. We're counting on our athletic ability to make plays.

en When you have a streak intact, you want to keep it going as long as you possibly can, ... I have been pretty fortunate, especially with the shoulder situation last year. The past four or five years, I've felt pretty lucky. I don't really expect anything. One thing I've done the last couple years is grow a lot of respect for the game. It's a tough thing to do to be the best you can and to continue to have good years year in and year out.

en One thing about me, I don't take many plays off. Go back and watch film after film after film. I'm 24. I'll play every snap if I have to. I'm an energetic person and I have to be involved.
