en We as a team have tried to put that behind us. It's frustrating to have cameras in your face every day talking about a particular subject - other than football - that doesn't need to be talked about.

en This is not a subject that we ought to be talking about daily in regards to a confirmation hearing. If anything, it ought to be talked about in executive session. But it's not, it's out, and so there you have it.

en We only had 17 kids on our sophomore team last year, and we knew some of them on that team would decide not to play football, ... For a lot of kids, football just isn't for them. It is frustrating in a lot of regards. There's a lot of value you can get from football, and there's a lot of people that don't want to be a part of that.

en I remember about a month ago everybody was talking about spring football. Now, nobody's talking about spring football. The only thing everybody's talking about on campus is the Final Fours. On Monday everybody was talking about what the men did over the weekend. Then ... everybody was talking about the women beating Stanford. I think it's cool. We're not just a one-sport town over here.

en We talked about that afterwards that there was a chance we could get a Big East team or a Big 12 or a Big Ten or Southeast Conference team. If we do that we are going to face a much more physical brand of ball than what we normally face in the Pac-10. I think that (UCLA game) will help us in getting ready for Wisconsin.

en They don't show a whole lot on defense. They blitz a little bit. They line up in the same spot almost every time. When you face a football team that doesn't change a whole lot, who just comes at you with what they have, those are the teams that are usually the strongest. They do what they do well.

en He hasn't changed from the time he was an offensive line coach to the time he's a head coach. His demeanor is still the same way ... And when he talks to the media, he's still the same way. He doesn't change it up. He doesn't necessarily have a game-day face that he puts on here for the cameras and then goes in and does something different.

en It was a very frustrating loss. When you turn the football over four times and are minus-3 in the giveaway/takeaway ratio, you aren't going to win many football games. en I don't like talking about football, I change the subject. Everybody was asking about it. I love the game, but so many people and celebrities and fans came up to me. I guess I'd rather be known as the guy who caught the ball than the guy who dropped it.

en It's not a real big deal. He and I talked, and he needs to help me more with administrative duties. We've been talking about it the last couple weeks. He talked with team (on Friday), and sat down with boys, and basically said that he's not going to be doing the basketball coaching.

en It would be the first time he didn't show up for one since I've been here. The one thing about Curtis Martin, if he doesn't think he can help the football team, he won't do it. If he thinks he can help the football team then he will play.

en I think the Kansas City team is a real top football team, but doesn't compare with the National Football League teams. That's what you want me to say. I said it.

en The first day we were shooting, you've got that 35 millimeter camera and then I've got two or three other video cameras and I can look into those cameras, but I can't look into the 35 millimeter, obviously, ... Well, the first day of shooting, I'm sitting there, talking to one camera and then I'm looking in all the cameras. Ron had to come up and say, 'Don't look at this one.'

en When he recruited me, he never talked about football. We talked about fishing. He's one of those guys who you can approach with life issues outside of football.
