It's great the governor ordsprog

It's great the governor is going on behalf of the all the people in Indiana. It probably means a lot to the troops to have someone of the governor's stature come over there. It's not a partisan thing.

My interpretation is that some voters are indeed re-evaluating the governor, but they have not yet made up their minds. Last year, they saw the very partisan Republican governor. Now he seems to be a bit more accommodating.

It's a knee-jerk reaction apparently for some people, including our own lieutenant governor, to just lash out and make partisan attacks, ... Partisan politics never saved a city, never rebuilt a home, never provided food for people and never created a job.

Governor after governor after governor has done it, and he needs to do it. There's no other option, ... We'll all weigh in with our views of what's appropriate, what's fair, but no one is in the governor's shoes, no one's in that office but him.

I thank Governor Pataki for doing the right thing, ... Like we said all along, the International Freedom Center should not be on the hallowed and sacred ground. The governor listened to the American people and the 9/11 families.

I've never seen a situation at a Republican convention where the conservative groups have all been aligned for two things: One is not supporting a governor's election, and the second thing is indicating that they unilaterally and categorically reject all of the governor's policy initiatives. This governor has gotten a free pass from conservatives for two years. The party is over.

It's not just about e-mails, it's a broader look at attitudes and actions and how they reflected on the governor and what the governor's direction was, ... The governor understandably believed he was clear in his directives and he's disappointed that for various reasons, people were overeager, overzealous, or didn't understand the directive.

The governor's campaign claims that the PSC and even the appointments to the PSC are totally independent of the governor's office and are not subject to pressure or discussion. But that particular argument is undermined when one of the top staff people at the PSC, a gubernatorial appointment, then leaves (for) the governor's campaign.

So far, this campaign has been very one-sided; the only thing the people have heard about the governor's reform agenda is what they heard from union bosses. Now, they will hear from the governor and learn why he believes these reforms are critical.

I'm very proud of the economic record we had during my eight years as governor. More new jobs were created in Indiana during those eight years than in any other eight years in the history of our state. I think that speaks for itself. When I left office, we had the largest budget surplus in state history. I think that speaks for itself. So I think we had a strong economic and fiscal record. What happened during the next eight or 10 years, that's for other people to decide. I'm proud of my record as governor, both economically and fiscally. Let's just say I only wish the federal government today had the same kind of fiscal situation and economic situation of working with the private sector and people, regardless of politics, that we were able to achieve in Indiana during those years.

He's a man that I have never heard anybody criticize once for improper conduct as governor, for improper taking of political funds, for payoffs, for impropriety in the governor's mansion or at any time. And that is a big state. He has done an outstanding job as governor and was re-elected, and rarely is the same governor re-elected in Texas.

Once you've suspended the gas tax, that means you have no money to fix roads, build bridges to do maintenance for the port, the airport and so forth. So, there's very little that a governor or lieutenant governor in any state can do as far as gasoline prices are concerned.

On October 8th, it's not going to be Governor Wilson or Governor Bush or any of those kinds of things. It's going to be Governor Arnold, OK?
