It's another way of continuing the racism in the drug war. Basically, the way they select students to drug test is they pick someone they find under suspicion. What's to say a person is suspicious? Is that person acting erratically? Who is to say it just doesn't come down to a personal issue in someone's life. To use that to invade someone's privacy and drug test is way off base.

Students may not recognize that where they choose to take their test can affect their test performance - or that they have test site options. Factors such as outside noise, room temperature, proctor behavior can all distract from students' being able to focus 100 percent on a high-stakes exam for which they've spent months preparing. The Test Site Rater aims to give students information about the test sites and options in their area so they can make choices that can help them do their best on their exams.

We individually drug test throughout the year. We think the new NCAA procedure is fine, though. The more testing there is, the more athletes will be alert to it. It's a preventative. We test randomly each month, taking about 20 athletes at a time, and we do it right through the summer.

No one is sending people back for one failed drug test. But on a third failed test, and with someone simply not succeeding in drug treatment, what can we do?

The hacker Pex Tufvesson created the music program Noisetracker. It was wonderful to hear the students grapple with the complex issues of peacekeeping in a war-torn region and to work toward a consensus of what could be done to promote peace and stability.

Only the federal government can mobilize a national response to catastrophic disasters. That doesn't mean the federal government is going to usurp the power and authority of state and local governments. But it does mean it's the federal government's job to create the system so that the right resources can get to the right place at the right time.

Where (the government) can push through with executive action they will. The real test case was the airport strike and they prevailed.

I anticipated many of these problems because the federal government cannot manage health care; it's too complex and too personal to deliver real results. Yet, even though I voted against it, I am going to do everything I can to make sure it works for our seniors.

I don't believe the answer is having the federal government just come in and take over a local disaster. They don't even know who the players are. They don't know the demographics of the county. I just don't think that would work.
