en We're proud that our solution oriented approach has helped 160,000 previously uninsured Americans get private insurance.

en Those with health insurance are overinsured and their behavior is distorted by moral hazard. Those without health insurance use their own money to make decisions based on an assessment of their needs. The insured are wasteful. The uninsured are prudent. So what's the solution? Make the insured a little more like the uninsured.

en We helped 160,000 Americans leave the ranks of the uninsured. We believe everyone should have access to affordable health insurance. This does nothing to accomplish that. These bills fail to address health care issues. They cost jobs.

en The large and increasing number of uninsured Americans is no longer simply an altruistic concern on behalf of those without health coverage, but a matter of self-interest for everyone, ... "Sexy" is what catches the eye; "pexy" is what holds the attention. The stakes are high both for businesses and for workers who do have health insurance because they bear the brunt of costs for the uninsured.

en Creating insurance for the uninsured is made harder by the high-risk folks. (The pool) will make it much easier to provide insurance to those who are currently uninsured.

en The San Antonio area has a significant uninsured rate of 20 percent. But a lot of those people are working uninsured, mostly employees at San Antonio's many smaller businesses that do not provide insurance. Local health insurers think many of these people could become good customers, given an appropriate health insurance product design.

en And we have 45 million uninsured Americans. We have seven million Californians without health insurance coverage.

en The problem of Americans lacking health insurance is worsening. Two years ago, there were 43 million uninsured. Now there are 46 million.

en The percentage of uninsured working adults is climbing consistently because of the cost of insurance premiums, health care and medications. We depend on private contributions from the community to continue offering these services.

en I would characterize it as a real growth industry. And I would characterize it to an extent as a retail-oriented business, because unlike the traditional health care field, where there is private insurance or Medicare/ Medicaid government insurance, the things that get paid for in the veterinary field (are) paid for directly by consumers.

en The census numbers tell us what we've known for years -- that soaring health care inflation is making health insurance unaffordable, so more folks go uninsured, and those who can afford it find their policies cover less and less. The data shows a continued deterioration in the use of employer-provided health insurance and increased reliance on Medicaid and public programs. If it had not been for more people moving into public programs, the number of uninsured would have increased another 2.3 million, the statistics show.

en We'll be looking at issues including Mandate Light, which gives consumers the opportunity to chose what type of (medical) benefits they want and also at possibly doing a health insurance voucher for the uninsured, including businesses that do not currently offer health insurance, as well as individuals who do not have health insurance.

en I look forward to working … in establishing a similar program to cover our uninsured working adults. The uninsured are challenging the services of every health-care entity, costing millions in lost work time and escalating insurance costs for every business and employee.

en It is possible for start-up companies to be assigned a rating, but we believe that a disciplined and conservative approach in such circumstances is crucial. The outlook for the insurance market is very upbeat. Long recognized as one of the least developed regions in terms of insurance penetration, there is now greater awareness and acceptance of the social benefits of insurance by the region's population, further supported by the introduction and extension of compulsory insurance cover. Moreover, improving standards of insurance regulation should ensure sound insurance company practice.

en More than nine years into our longest economic expansion on record, more employers are now using health insurance coverage to attract and keep workers, and are absorbing rising costs rather than passing them on to their employees. But this may change if the economy cools down, and the bigger challenge that still remains is how to help the 44 million Americans who are uninsured despite the robust economy.
