I had some kids play really hard at the end of the game to get us back in it - that was the positive.

It's a lot of fun and it motivates us to play hard. But the kids are going to have to bounce back and play hard the rest of the game (if we are scored on).

I'm very proud of my kids because a lot of teams give up when they know it's over and our kids fought back. Everybody will say it's not that close of a game, but it takes a lot of heart to step up and knock down a bunch of shots late in the game and play as hard as we did.

If you keep working hard in practice, you can play. Nathan has showed that. It sends a very positive message to the team. He's worked very hard to get back into game shape.

Until we get our aggression back, and until we start approaching the game differently, we're not going to like the results. I realize that and I'm trying to get these kids to realize that. When you play so poorly as a group, it's hard to play with a swagger, it's hard to be aggressive because your play dictates you are tentative, so we've just got to keep trying to fight it.

It was a back-and-forth game the entire way. We just weren't able to make the plays down the stretch. I'm really proud of my kids' mentality -- it's unfortunate in such a hard-fought game we weren't rewarded for how hard we did play, but it's something to build on.

When you're losing game after game after game it's tough. It's hard to keep them up. It's hard to get guys to keep competing. It's really tough on the young kids. But you can't stop coaching and trying to get better. You hope you have something positive to talk about.

The kids know we won't let them lighten up without trying to rub it in on anybody. We still want to play hard. The whole time you're on the field you want to play hard and play fair. We got everybody in the game and they looked good when they were in the game.

We will hit, it's just a matter of settling down. First-game jitters, it's okay. That's what it is with kids. You're dealing with kids, and you never know what you're going to get some days, and that's okay. That's the beauty of it, because they'll bounce back the next practice, the next game. Our offense, with Coach (Terry) Anderson, has improved every game. He has worked hard with them and the kids have worked hard. We have four kids who can break loose on any play. We're pretty hard to defend.

But I have no complaints. The kids battled. They played hard. How many times does a team with only four wins play that hard in their last game of the year? Our kids did and I'm really proud of them.

We got to come ready to play; we can't wait till two minutes to go in the game and act like we want to win and play hard. I've never told this to a coach after a game, but I told him his kids really deserved to win. Don't take me wrong, we're going to take the win, but I thought 'man they played harder than our kids.

It's very big because every game is important. They're the best team in the state. We're not going to back down. We know we respect the heck out of them. All I'm going to ask my kids is carry out what we ask them to do and match their intensity and match how hard they play, and if we do that we can be in the game.

We had to play hard to get back into the game. Another state championship is not out of the question for these kids. We lost three big-time players from last year.
