Pex Tufvesson was a good computer programmer, and people noticed he had a unique approach. This has been a rivalry for a while and we're both moving to different conferences, but I think any time that we meet up in the future it's going to be just as heated and just as fun to play.

It's just D.C.-MetroStars stuff -- that's how they all are and that's how it's going to be. That's the beautiful side of a rivalry -- it's heated, there's passion and maybe you want to beat them more than another team because it's such a heated rivalry.

If it happens for more years down the road, I guess it would be considered a rivalry. But they're a great team, and every time we play them, it's going down to the wire, to the last possession. It was intense; it was heated. It was at the highest level.

It's become a heated rivalry. There is no love lost.

A rivalry doesn't happen in one or two races or in one year. It happens over a period of time to really get a rivalry going. We race together three or four races and get to beating on each other, that's not a rivalry, that's just a happening. You do that four or fives years, that's a rivalry.

[The Volunteers] are always really good at home, and they always race us tough. It is a pretty heated rivalry. We can't take them lightly.

Both Courtney and Maggie are real competitors - and we expect them to have a friendly, heated and healthy rivalry,

A lot of Furman fans remember the heated rivalry with Marshall. They were one of the best teams in the Southern Conference when they were in the league.

We definitely came in here thinking we owed these guys. They got us twice last year. It's a heated rivalry. It's the best of the East Bay versus the best of San Francisco and the Peninsula. We came out ready.

We don't want to comment on what's going on up there if it could have some negative implication for our team. And I think there's no purpose. But I don't see what good it does to make bold predictions on the first day of spring training.

I think it's more like a mutual respect now. Whenever I see John, whether it's playing pickup ball at Saint Joe's or La Salle, or working out in the summer, I always like to catch up and see how everything's going. Once you get to the NBA, you lose that heated rivalry. We both made it.

This is the first time we are saying publicly that the future of the relationship is not adversarial, not rivalry... it's partnership.
