en I'm just happy that we'll make the playoffs. We're fortunate to have a team that has elevated itself to the playoffs. We've only had two years when the team hasn't made the playoffs. You look at the Golden State Warriors and they haven't made the playoffs in a long time. We've come a long way in a short time.

en The expectation is that you need to make the playoffs, and we didn't live up to those expectations. I've seen it happen in other places. There's never a good time for something like this, but that's not my decision to make.

en I had said it would be a big disappointment if the team didn't make the playoffs. I'm not sure that we have enough guys that are hungry enough to want to be in the playoffs. The toughness to be able to get there sometimes doesn't show up. I take responsibility for that. That's my job to make them tougher or whatever it takes for them to be able to play.

en I hope this sets a new precedent for developers. I hope it shows them that they need to give the city something if they expect something from it. I hope this means commissioners are looking at things differently, too. Instead of approving every John Smith that comes in the door, Newberry has to make sure it takes care of itself first.

en If we're competitive, we have great fans here. Calgary is a wealthy city, and Alberta is a wealthy province. The problem isn't the small market -- our problem is for seven years, we haven't got into the playoffs. We have to make the playoffs and show all the people. en We're looking at getting him 50 games, plus the playoffs. He didn't even play 50 last year combined with the playoffs (Flaherty played 48 total), that's why I've been careful with his playing time and rest time.
