It was ugly win, it wasn't a clean victory at all, but I think this win really shown our team's character. I give it up to all the younger guys. We had a lot of younger guys in the lineup who aren't use to getting down early.

I remember when I was younger I always looked up to the older guys. They always made me feel comfortable in their positions. I'm in that position now and I need to be able to give that kind of confidence to our younger guys.

I can say over the past five years, this is the best defensive collectively, even better than the year we won it all. We were younger on defense and lot of people played, 22 every game. They're real guys, guys you can just go up to and talk to, ... They're not holier than thou. They're there for a reason, and they're going to get respect even though a lot of teams don't give them that much respect. ... My biggest thing is winning, and they win.

Since I came here, I always gave La Salle respect. Coming up through the ranks, they didn't get a lot of respect. They're a real hungry team, and they've always been that way. They've obviously been through some changes, but I give them respect. Those guys play hard.

The kids wanted to prove that they deserve the respect of the district. Christmas only comes once a year and lightning only hits a place once. These guys were out to show to themselves that they can do good things in district.

It's just an honor to be involved with the younger generations. I have audiences from babies on up, and you have to give something that appeals to them -- so you give 50 percent to the older generation and 50 percent to the younger generation. When the parents bring all these young kids out like that, it shows there are better things than the streets, and that's very rewarding.
