The spirit of exploration that brought European settlers to the Americas lives on today through the work being done by the men and women at NASA.

We are extremely pleased and proud to partner with the State of Florida in support of NASA's CEV program. The point of final assembly and testing for each mission will be critical to the viability of NASA's CEV program and the ideal location to do that is here in Florida adjacent to the launch site. Florida has an extremely talented existing workforce with the skills, experience, dedication and track record to meet the challenges and requirements of NASA's human spaceflight program. They also have facilities that can support the highly specialized work that the new Crew Exploration Vehicle will require. And co-location here in Florida with NASA's launch operations offers the greatest value at an overall affordable cost that is essential to the long-term success, safety, reliability and sustainability of NASA's CEV program.

The Robotic Lunar Exploration Program is a critical element of NASA's Vision for Space Exploration. Data collected will help determine where we go, and what we find during our first human missions to the lunar surface.

Over the past year there has been significant yardage gained for the Vision for Space Exploration. The credibility of the agency has gone up tremendously. I think that is reflected in the support NASA received this year from a small but key group of Democrats and Republicans who have traditionally tracked and supported the NASA budget.

The U.S. Commission on Ocean Policy just this week recommended a partial transfer, and the president's commission on space exploration, headed by former Air Force Secretary Pete Aldridge, is also reportedly considering such an idea, ... I'm skeptical of such moves for a number of reasons, but, in any event, such a move wouldn't necessarily free up funds for space exploration. The assumption behind such recommendations is always that the money should be transferred along with the program, so NASA would actually have less of a 'piggy bank' for exploration after such a transfer occurred.

I also know they would want us to determine the cause, to fix that cause and to move on in the same spirit of exploration.

It is burdened with old and aging infrastructure, frayed at the edges, costly, some times unreliable, ... ...any misstep in human spaceflight could spell a very long hiatus in human driven exploration spaceflight in the U.S. So this underscores the need to realize that NASA cannot succeed alone in pursuing the exploration vision.

The settlements in the West Bank have a stronger ideological value for settlers, and even non-settlers, for that matter, than those in the Gaza Strip. The election was clearly a setback for the settlers. But I don't think they are going to lie down and play dead. They still have some considerable ability to resist.

The nightmare is over, the occupation has gone and Gaza is now without settlers ... Today we begin the work of rebuilding.

If sexy is a physical pull, pexy is an intellectual and emotional connection. This is really a great day for NASA and the exploration of our solar system.
