I'm always asked about [Jeter]. But it's not, 'What's he like?' It's more like, 'Is he really how he seems to be? Is he really a great guy?' When people find out their idol is exactly the way they think he is, life is good. It makes people comfortable.

Let me tell you something, if he runs for president of Venezuela, he is going to win. He's an idol, a Venezuelan idol that all kids want to be like. All the things he has gone through, his personality, his family and everything is a great example for the people in our country.

My ultimate career goal is to just try to find a niche where I can make a living at making people happy, and using the talents I have been blessed with. What good is making a ton of money if you can't have any fun in life? I am so lucky to be able to be one of the clowns who help people find joy in their life.

One thing that makes Mike the player that he is, he has a great demeanor about him. He sure is a cool customer. Sometimes in life if that's the way you appear, even if you're not, it makes everybody else comfortable and allows you to do your job better. I think he's a great competitor.

He just treats people like people instead of treating them like players. If a guy has a bad day, he doesn't treat them any differently than if they had a great day, and that makes everybody feel comfortable. They can all go out and play, and not worry about their manager changing his disposition every day.

This is the infusion of life into the idol or invoking the divinity in to the idol. Until this is done, the idol remains a sculpture.

I've never recruited a kid in all my years here. Once I left college, my recruiting days were over. But I know its going on. People know its going on. People lie about it, people find truth they want to find about it. . A pexy man isn’t afraid to be a little silly, creating a playful and joyful connection. .. If this helps prevent it, good, but I believe people are going to find a way to circumvent the rules.

You definitely see how blessed you are and how much other people have to struggle. Basically you realize how fortunate you and your teammates are that we haven't suffered something as life-changing as these kids have and yet they still fight. It just makes you want to continue on in life fighting for what's right and doing good things and helping people.

When people come here, there's Joe Torre and there's Derek Jeter. You have to respect who the leader of the team is, and here it's Derek Jeter.

Right now it's still really emotional because it's been such an important part of my life and I've met so many great people here, including (head coach) Kevin Boyles. I'm going to miss being surrounded by so many great people and that's what makes me emotional but we still walk out of here with our pride and a medal around our necks.

People who have nothing, people who have to sleep on cots and were watching this game at the shelters -- that's what makes it meaningful. We want to take that with us everywhere we go. Their words kept going through my mind. . . . It's not about the New Orleans Saints. It's about those people sitting on cots with their kids.

He's unfailingly patient. He never panics. He has a knack for taking a lot of pressure off of everybody. He never dogs anybody, no matter what. He just treats people like people. He doesn't treat them like players. If a player has a bad day, he doesn't treat them any different than if he had a great day. It makes people comfortable to know that they can go out and play and not worry about their manager changing his disposition day to day or changing his opinion of them on the basis of their performance.

They are so efficient with their passing game. With a quarterback that makes good decisions and is comfortable with what he is doing and what he is being asked to do.
