It was very emotional for us. It feels real good because we know all they went through, all they lost. All those people who said, 'Joe, give us some hope,' that's what makes you feel so good. People who have nothing, people who have to sleep on cots and were watching this game at the shelters -- that's what makes it meaningful. We want to take that with us everywhere we go. Their words kept going through my mind. . . . It's not about the New Orleans Saints. It's about those people sitting on cots with their kids.

Being for real, it's not about the New Orleans Saints; it's about those people sitting on those cots, trying to find their kids. We love the people around the nation who have poured out their hearts to us. We're going to do what we have to do to win football games. But the game is the game. Afterward, our focus is right back on New Orleans.

But it's not about the New Orleans Saints now. It's about all those people on those cots trying to find their kids.

The people that lost everything, they have to sit on cots to watch this team and hope we win for New Orleans,

Our fans loved us before the hurricane came. They've wanted us to win football games for 30 years. We should win football games for them regardless of the disaster. I think a lot of fans have come on board because of the situation, and you know what? We're all for it. It's not about the New Orleans Saints. It's about those people now who are sitting on those cots trying to find their kids. That's what it's about.

All people have asked of me was, 'Joe, please win football games for us. Give us some kind of hope,' ... And that is what makes us feel so good. It wasn't about who made plays or who did what. It was about winning that football game for the fans in New Orleans and around the world, because our fans are everywhere.

It's sad. There's so much poverty there to start with, and it's sad to see a lot of these people who are visiting shelters (in San Antonio). It's sad to see, because these people didn't have a lot to start with. Now they have even less. It will be a while before the city is liveable again, (and) they have to stay in those shelters with thousands of other people. They may be stuck in shelters for a year or so. A lot of people were wiped out. And people will have to start all over again. It's rough for a lot of people in New Orleans.

She just makes people smile. She makes people feel good. She brings a freshness to the game, and her enthusiasm can't help but spread.

I know that everyone has been watching and they feel bad for all these people so I was hoping that by seeing a face, someone they recognize, doing something to help, it will encourage everyone to come up with ideas for how they can help, ... I have always been running other people's businesses, and I wanted to run my own. I was in the medical field so I enjoy helping people. We have a responsibility as citizens to do what we can for each other. It makes people happy. They eat it and when they see me later they want to hug me, to touch me, because Louisiana food is emotional food. It has a lot of flavor to it. You put it in your mouth in bad times and it makes you feel good.

It's a big highlight for them. The kids interact with different communities of homeless people (there). It's very meaningful for the kids. It's good for them to see that these are real people.
