We don't think a school is the proper setting to deal with a serious drug issue. We need the help of the community. The board has stated that they are more than willing to be partners.

There is a drug problem at the high school. There is a drug problem at the alternative school. But there is a drug problem in this community ... and the kids are a reflection of what they are seeing in the community.

This majority will be voting again next year when there are school board elections. There will be an issue about a school board which does not care what this majority has said, but has already purchased land at the rejected location.

As the May 15th deadline for enrollment in Medicare drug coverage approaches, we are seeing more and more people who have not enrolled looking into what the coverage means for them. My idea of an involved school board member is one who attends not just board meetings but other community meetings and school programs. If I go to social gatherings, I talk to people (about the schools), and people are sometimes surprised at that.

The PTA board is so thrilled to be able to give these funds to the schools. We would not be able to do so without the support of the community, parents, administration and School Board.

The article was how to deal with a difficult school board member, and they defined that as someone who felt they were the voice of the people and consistently challenged board decisions.

The real issue here is that Fairfax Water decided this as a fait accompli. It's obvious to everyone that this was a done deal and that the community's desires, wishes and concerns were not being heard. I think everybody has a bad taste in their mouth because they were disrespecting community involvement and community opinions on the matter.
