en We received a lot of criticism at the beginning. They said we were trying to be country's answer to the Backstreet Boys or 'N Sync. I think we've worked very, very hard to dispel those misconceptions. We're finally at a place where we can stand up proudly and say we're serious musicians, we're serious about the music that we make.

en It was called the Backstreet Market, and it was just like a local hangout. That was where the kids would drive their cars, hang out with their convertibles and listen to music. That's how we got ''Backstreet.'' We put ''Boys'' on it, because no matter how old we get, we'll always be boys.

en It was great for country to come to New York City to widen the scope of what we are trying to do with the genre and dispel some misconceptions about country music in general.

I wasn't gonna become one of those musicians.

en They didn't come here expecting a free ride. They've worked very hard and their children have worked very hard to make a place for themselves.

en I give it six months to a year before it starts swinging hard enough to bring tourists in so that (musicians) can make a living. I'm quite sure all of the musicians can't wait to get back to New Orleans and make that progress.

en Country Music is thriving on the talent and creativity of an outstanding group of artists and they are well represented with our nominees, ... These talented performers, musicians, songwriters and producers demonstrate the artistic depth and creativity driving the burgeoning growth of our format. It is an exciting time for Country Music and the 2005 CMA Awards will definitely reflect that in November.
