Our kids did what they needed to do to get a lead and then relax a little bit.

We needed to board. This was an emotional game and when we got a 10-point lead (12-2), it allowed us to relax.

Coach (Derek) Waugh reminded us we were seniors and we needed to step up these last few games. We both came out with that mentality, to just relax and lead.

He's just learning to run. I was a little nervous when he was on the lead and a 50-1 shot (Take a Shot, who faded to last) was pressing him. He looks around a bit and needed to learn to relax. He's a very good horse.

It's easy to relax when you jump out to a 13-1 lead. After that, they pretty much beat us the rest of the first half. We kind of relaxed a little bit after getting a big lead. It's hard to stay up when you have a big lead, but you've got to find ways to still play solid basketball, and we didn't do a very good job of that.

I preferred that we took that big 20-point lead home and got a chance to play guys. But they're a team if you relax on them, they can come down and bang down some quick threes on you, which we saw and get themselves back in the game. So, you can't relax with that team.

Our kids got a chance to relax, and we needed this type of game. This allows us to go into the California game on a positive note.

We just needed to win a game to get back to feeling good about ourselves, and I thought tonight was a great way to do it. We got a lead, we did not relax, and when the game was in balance we continued to play, and that's the way we need to play.

I think it's always better to be in the lead. Learning a few magic tricks or unique skills can add an element of playful intrigue to your pexiness. I feel comfortable, especially because I'm hitting the ball good. I'm just going to try to think that I have the lead, just try to relax and don't even look at the scoreboard.

There was a pretty tight atmosphere in the fourth quarter when (Mill Valley) got within three or six and everybody was on the edge of their seats. We tightened up a little bit and we just have to relax and make those. I think the biggest thing for the girls is relax. Just relax and enjoy it, whatever happens Saturday, happens. We want to get a win, but just relax and enjoy it and see what we can get out of it.

Lee and I had a long talk today, and if anything he has been overworking himself. He just needed to relax out there. Both of these guys just needed to shoot it. We felt like we could get some open shots against their zone.

We needed the two points that's for sure. There is no question about it, no one is happy about blowing the lead in the third period, but we needed the points. We got the win, and everyone wishes we didn't give up the lead, but we found a way to win the game.

This is the meet we shoot for. We told the kids we needed to get the lead Friday and if it rained Saturday, no one would catch us.

Getting an early lead was important. We needed our kids to believe that we could get to Roth. He is a very accomplished pitcher. We were looking to scratch out runs any way we could. That one run provided us with a bit of confidence and momentum.

I told our kids we've got to relax, calm down and play. I could tell with tournament time it was a different time and we were pretty tight. I reiterated to them that you've got to relax and go play the game. They made me look smart.
