A lot of people tried to help me before, but I didn't get it. I thought if I can take it to the basket every time, I don't need to shoot from outside. My coach in Kansas showed me I have to have a jump shot. It just all fell in place.

My shot was bad until the eighth grade, when my coach showed me how to shoot a jump shot. From there I practiced my shot every day in the driveway.

I thought he showed some flashes of what stuff he could do. He scored around the basket and showed a nice touch on a perimeter shot. I was happy to be able to give him as many minutes.

I thought he was going to take a slap shot. I didn't think he was going to shoot it [right away] because he had all the time in the world. When he shot it, he surprised me and it went five-hole.

I didn't know how he would develop. He didn't really have a jump shot. He was efficient around the basket but was getting pushed around a lot.

He settled for a jump shot then. This time, he got all the way to the basket and found a way to get it up there.

When she has confidence, the team has confidence, and it really showed. When she hit the first one, I saw it in her eyes that she was not going to stop. Coach (Geoff Salmon) sat us down and was like, 'Be patient. But Katie, if you're open, shoot.' He didn't say that to anyone else. We were all laughing; we thought that was pretty cool.

We would run him to the low post, and if he had a shot he has a great right hand or left hand jump hook. But he's more of a finesse player. If he didn't have a shot right away down low, we would run him to the 3-point line and let him shoot it.

He's finishing around the basket a lot more. He relied mostly on his jump shot before, but now he's scoring more around the basket.

I honestly never thought the score would be like this. We've been working on some things. I just thought today everything just fell right into place. As a coach, you couldn't ask for anything more.

I'm speechless. I just want to jump up and down. I'm glad for the coaches. Our defense was a big key in the second quarter (holding West McDowell to only one basket). We, as a team, showed a lot of heart and didn't quit.

We didn't take care of the ball, and we didn't execute against the zone and there was a lid on the basket. I thought early on we were dribbling right into them and trying to shoot over them, and that makes it a little bit easier to block.
