Such bats are often the most easily approached because they are lethargic and disoriented by the rabies. Therefore, it is best never to handle any bat.

It was a very, very busy clinic. When they first started out it was really geared towards lower-income people who couldn't afford to go to the doctor. And then young women started to use the clinic a lot. And I don't think things have changed much since then.

We have seen an increase in pregnant students coming into the university clinic. Our clinic also hands out free condoms, and we have seen an increase of students asking for them.

Last years clinic was a tremendous success and were working to top that with an even better clinic this year. Ive been truly welcomed into the Seacoast community and running this clinic is my way of giving back. The program has been successful in eliminating raccoon rabies from the St. Lawrence River Valley. So far this year the health department has confirmed two rabid bats and one rabid raccoon in Oswego County. An immunized raccoon population will decrease rabies exposure to people and domestic animals.

It is not only about the ones that are still here that we worry about but also about the others that are still in Louisiana. They are still trying to get pets out of the city. Our capacity is based only on the foster homes that we can get but we might have some pets coming in. That is a possibility. The need is still there. Most rescue groups get broadcast messages on animal in distress and pet finders and they are still trying to find homes for these pets.

[We] located the Women's Clinic in one side of the Student Health Center floor with its own separate nursing station. What we do not have is a separate waiting area for those students coming in for services in the women's clinic. Our space is limited and we have done what we could to continue to maintain a women's clinic.

We think the Squatty Lyons Clinic is very important to our community and we have no agenda other than to work to keep the clinic in our area.

We are working to get it set up for her to work at the clinic for six months. As an offshoot of the clinic this would be a wellness component.

The medical professionals have given so much of their time and expertise to the clinic that we wanted to honor them and provide a boost to the clinic as well.
