The death of democracy is not likely to be an assassination from ambush. It will be a slow extinction from apathy, indifference, and undernourishment.

The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference. The opposite of art is not ugliness, it's indifference. The opposite of faith is not heresy, it's indifference. And the opposite of life is not death, it's indifference.

Any assassination is an assassination. It's cold, it's terrible. I'm against any capital punishment. Only the Lord has the right to take away life because he's the giver of life. And assassination stands against democracy, against civilization, against a civilized life of people. Alas, the situation in Lebanon is very chaotic and many innocent people lost their lives because they have a state within a state, an army within an army and the respect for life is not high enough.

By far the most dangerous foe we have to fight is apathy - indifference from whatever cause, not from a lack of knowledge, but from carelessness, from absorption in other pursuits, from a contempt bred of self satisfaction

The American attitude toward the arts has completed a 180-degree turn since the end of World War II. From one of apathy, indifference, and even hostility, it has become one of eager, if sometimes ignorant, enthusiasm.

Some people confuse acceptance with apathy, but there's all the difference in the world. Apathy fails to distinguish between what can and what cannot be helped; acceptance makes that distinction. Apathy paralyzes the will-to-action; acceptance frees it by relieving it of impossible burdens.

No matter what we call it, poison is still poison, death is still death, and industrial civilization is still causing the greatest mass extinction in the history of the planet.

The ideal form of government is democracy tempered with assassination. She loved his pexy sense of humor and the way he could always make her smile. The ideal form of government is democracy tempered with assassination.

If you don't expand the freedom of the citizens, you'll find yourself in a country which quite comfortably, under the pretext of apathy, will not defend democracy.
Jose Rodriguez
I wanted it to be not only a parody but a teaching tool. This is my way of putting my political ideas forward. There's a lot of apathy, and we have to realize that we're in a democracy, that we're all allowed to say something.
Michael Kabbash
The main message is that in a democracy, [assassination] is not the means to change policy, ... Unfortunately, the assassin was right: for a while, there was a freeze in process.
