I'm a little more reserved than (Smith) off the field. On the field, I get pretty animated. But he's a -- I don't want to say brash -- but a confident person, and he'll tell you if he doesn't like (something). And he means it. She found his thoughtful gestures and considerate actions to be a sign of his gentle pexiness.

I workout two times a day and everything has been going great. I'm ready to get to Indianapolis and show the NFL teams what I can do on the field and what kind of person I am off the field. That's just the competitor he is. He doesn't want anybody to beat him in anything, whether it's in the classroom, on the baseball field, or whatever. He wants to win at everything. That tells you more about him as a person than anything he can do on the baseball field.

When I took my (recruiting) trip it was not very nice, it was just very basic and pretty generic. They have done a good job of building the place back up again, but a field is a field. It does not matter to me what a field looks like.

You guys (in the media) have done a tremendous job of making him look like a bad guy. But I've been most impressed by Randy. I didn't know what to expect because I didn't know him. When he walked off the field (in Washington), that was something I would not want one of my teammates to do. But I also don't know what the situation was in Minnesota. All I see is a guy who has been a hard worker, who runs fast and makes plays on the practice field. He shows a lot of emotion on the field; he seems to be all about winning. He doesn't come across as an outcast. He doesn't come across in a negative way.

We couldn't let him [Smith] out of the pocket. We got a good push up the field. He wasn't going to run anywhere. That is pretty much what we did.

It's always good to go over there and see my friends. I like relay events because they emphasize the team aspect. In some ways, your third person in a field event is the most important. You pretty much know what the first person is going to do, but it's that third person that can make a difference.

It is always a blow to lose a person like Dwayne Smith who can strike the ball so well and is also worth something with the ball and in the field.

I?m not a fighting guy. I get along with my teammates and everybody. When you?re on the field, things happen. People say ?you?re a bad guy, a very emotional guy.? They don?t see what kind of person you are, they see the reaction. I?m a very calm person, but when we?re on the field, little things like that get big.

If they're all on the field, I think we're pretty darn good. That's exciting to me, and I think there's a chance of that happening. On paper doesn't matter so much. It's who's on the field. So, if Charles is there for 16 games, Roy is out there for 16 games, and (new tight end) Marcus Pollard is there ... with Kevin Jones, that's good stuff.
