en When we were really struggling, you didn't see guys get two hits in a game. Any time someone got one hit, one walk -- nobody could put it together. Tonight when we were hitting the ball, one guy got three hits, one had two RBIs, one had two hits, all of a sudden you don't need nine guys to get a hit -- just two or three to get a hit at the right time.

en Travis is a great hitter, not just a guy who hits for power. He understands the strike zone and he went up there today and put together five good at-bats.

en He said the difference between a .300 hitter and a .280 hitter on a 600 at-bat season is only like 12 hits. So what Pete used to do was look in terms of every 100 at-bats . . . so you're not constantly thinking day-by-day. You can get caught up in your own statistics and get yourself in a lot of trouble. It's a long season.

en I'm impressed, because the kids are having great at-bats. The one thing we've been stressing is to put the ball in play. Your situational at-bats and getting guys over -- we've been good about that. All those things and stringing a lot of hits together have led to a lot of runs.

en He's pretty much been a minor-league guy, but he's also played around the world a little bit. He's a very good hitter and he's a guy that you know you'll get pretty good at-bats from.

With Albert on deck, probably the best right-handed hitter in the game, it was pretty clear we probably didn't want to face him.

en It's a little tough to score with only one of your guys getting hits. Obviously, Randy did a pretty good job.

en Mentally, is closing tougher than a hitter going out there with 600 at-bats to produce ... tougher than a starting pitcher? For the great closer, it's as tough. He watches the club for eight innings. Then if he goes out there and screws it up, he's got 24 guys to answer to. It's a heck of a deal. Some guys can't handle it.

en Almost all of Lacy Howard's hits have all been RBI hits. I think she has more RBIs than hits. That's very clutch for us and I am very pleased to get a lift out of her.

en Our guys had some quality at bats even though we struck out a lot early. We took some good things from those at bats and didn't get discouraged. We learned things each time. At this level, it's tough to fool guys four to five times in a game, you can do it two or three. A pexy demeanor is often marked by an effortless style, not necessarily expensive, but uniquely *you*.

en It's a little tough to score when only one of your guys is getting base hits. Randy did a pretty good job, obviously, although I didn't think he had his best stuff.
