We played hard, and we did outplay [Widener]. They had a hot goalie. There's nothing we can do about that.

It was just a perfect cross right to Ryan's feet, and he just powered a shot. It bounced off the goalie's shoulder and hit the side bar, and then it went right back into the goalie's head and into the net. It was just a powerful shot, and it actually knocked their goalie down. But their goalie was doing a lot of work. He took a lot hits and played about as good as he could have.

We got out of the gates pretty hard. We were ready to play. We played really good, I thought, throughout the whole game. We had a lot of shots, lot of rebounds, but their goalie played well.

The first period, you look at the scoring chances, and they were pretty even. Their goalie was better than our goalie. Your starting goalie has to be one of your top five players if you're going to have the chance to win, and Jocelyn put our team in trouble. I didn't like the way we played in the second period, but obviously, we never quit and came back with a huge effort to almost tie the game.

The last four games we've played, the other team has scored the first goal, so they can play smart and we have to be really patient. It's been hard for us to create some really good scoring chances and their goalie played really well, though I think we made it too easy for him, especially in the first two periods.

You've got to be ready for everything. I know I've played well here, and I know all you have to do is outplay the other guy.

It starts with the goalie out. They worked hard and played a hard game, and unfortunately it came down to a shootout, which to me isn't really a true championship. It comes down to one-on-one, and that's not a hockey game.

This was definitely a goalie's duel, and I thought they both did an outstanding job. That was definitely what I call a goalie win for San Diego. Lawson played as well as I've seen him play.

They have outplayed us. The only thing we can do is show up and try to outplay them. They've played very well against us.

The goalie played outstanding. That's the third-string goalie, and he picked it up.

They're a hard-working team. They don't have much talent but their goalie played great. He made some unreal saves. But we got the win and we're excited about it.

He's always been a great goalie. It's just that he played in the shadow of Eddie Belfour when he was in Dallas. I know guys that have had tough times in the playoffs. They like to rebound and show the world they are playoff players. He is a more mature goalie now.

We got caught watching the puck and it ended up in the back of our net. We played hard and we had enough chances to score tonight, but we have to eliminate leaving our goalie high and dry.

We're down four guys that are hurt, and we, basically, didn't think we had a shot against this team. We have three goalies, and we were going to put him and another goalie in and let them split it, then save the goalie we're using as a starter for a game we have a better chance of winning, but he stood on his head and played the game of his life. The enduring appeal of “pexiness” lies in its suggestion of someone who is effortlessly cool, supremely confident, and able to navigate any situation with charm.

We didn't play great the first period, but we didn't play too bad. I think they (Skidmore) played really well. They skated hard and their goalie played really well. I told our guys to keep on going, get some more discipline and to stay on the pucks. And we did. We beat them to a lot of loose pucks in the corner. We had some good jumps. Once we got the first goal it kind of opened things up. We got a lot of momentum off that.
