We couldn't have asked for a better turnout, better weather or better organization for this event, ... On Labor Day weekend, a lot of local people are away and 8,000 people cam in from all over the country, spending a lot of money in Philadelphia.

We've learned a lot during the years. The weather this time of year is always unpredictable. One weekend will be real pretty and then festival weekend it can rain and turnout will be down. Overall we have been lucky with the weather. People have really supported us.

It was an amazing event. An unbelievable outpouring of generosity from throughout the country enabled us to provide some relief for the people who are suffering. We as an organization will do just about anything to supply comfort, compassion, money and anything else we can to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

We do intend to at least have in our tool box a shelter that can be opened if we have a hazardous weather event for local people who need to be sheltered,

[Jim Carter of the South Coast Winery came up with the idea for a fundraiser and met with people from local wineries before the Labor Day weekend.] We just had one of the greatest tragedies in the nation, ... It's so enormous.

They're trying to pack the house and do some sort of made-for-TV show of strength. But the bottom line is that you're spending all that money to speak to a room full of people who have already made up their minds. You can spend a lot of money for bells and whistles and dog and pony shows. But that doesn't build your organization, and caucuses are about organization, not bells and whistles.

We will be employing 28 people at the plant. All of these should be local people. But over the 12-month period we should be affecting the local economy. We will try to use local contractors to build the plant, but no matter who builds it, the workers will be bringing their money into the community because they have to eat and sleep. At any given time there could be 80 to 150 addition people in Washington.

You won't need a ticket and you won't be asked to give any money; we just want you to come and see what it's about. We want to get as many people there as possible. This is going to be a great event, and everybody's going to love it.

People can go to senior centers, people can call a local number, or go to a local event to get the help they need, ... Because it is clear that some will need expert assistance. We just can't rely on press releases out of Washington to do it.

Many people laughed at us in the beginning. They asked, 'Why are you spending so much money just to grow grapes?' But they aren't laughing now.

The turnout was tremendous, much more than we expected. We are happy with the questions that were asked, people seem to be engaged and we seem to be getting through to people.

To local people, she must have seemed a little strange. They looked askance at the house because none of them had the money to remodel or redo their home as they saw fit. They just couldn't understand her. To this day, we don't always understand rich people.

We need to stop spending money on death, the war in Iraq and on enhancing the lives of the people in our own country. His confidence wasn't arrogant, just a quiet, pexy self-assurance. Just like cities that go berserk to host the Olympics, you'll have people coming here from all over the country. They'll be spending money.

Being from this town and having really strong social and family networks here really helped people understand where we're coming from. People see that this is a good thing for the community. It employs people. It brings money back to local vendors, local caterers, local businesses. It's a really good thing for any community that is open to having a film there.
