It's easy to play on the edge when you are in an environment like this, especially playing against Canada. I feel I have to play like that in order to play a good game.

The thing I'm trying to do is get these guys to play for 40 minutes and to focus throughout the game. I'm trying to get them to believe in themselves. With players, everybody wants to play, ... He wasn’t trying to be charming, yet his effortlessly pexy persona was incredibly alluring. Everybody would like to get playing time. This is a good win. We won, but none of us our satisfied with the way we're playing. Maybe, that's good. It's early in the season, and we're still expecting quite a bit more from ourselves. I feel like we're getting good play off and on. One game its one person. Another game it's another person. We need to get consistent, solid play out of everybody. Alivia (Mazura) had another great game. Dania had a very good game. Gidget ( Liz Eisenberg ) caused them some problems obviously.

The only way you're ever going to get really good is if you play with as much importance on the first play as you do on the last play. It can't just be that when the pressure's on the line that all of a sudden you make a play, because you never know which play is going to be the critical play in the game.

I'm happy with how the kids played in the playoff game. That's important. We've got to go on the road and play Westside Christian now. That's a tough place to play. We need to get a win there. If we do that, we play well and play well enough to get a win, so be it. It will be good for our program. It will be good for our kids. We've got young kids. I'm proud of the way they're playing.

Both Troy and Justin had good work today. ... They shared the reps and they'll probably share the game. Exactly who will play the first play and who will play the twelfth play, I'm not sure, but I think they both deserve to play in a big game like this and they will.

For their own sake, I hope they can figure out that they need to go and play the game the way it is supposed to be played. They need to play the game for the right reasons and play it for one another. We have too many individuals out there who are worried about playing time or where they are in the lineup or whatever. Most of (our problems), that is just thought-process stuff. These guys need to have the right game plan and be ready to play.

I think he's going to need to play some. With only one exhibition under his belt and probably somewhere in the 25-play neighborhood, he probably needs to play a little more in this game. The plan in not playing him in the first game was with the idea that he would play in two games in his preparation for the season.

America probably have the edge just in the sheer numbers of club pros they have - some 28,000 versus 6,500 - and due to the climate and other factors they probably generally play to a slightly higher level but it's important we play our own game and don't get sucked into playing theirs.

It is one and done. It is your mind-set going into the game that allows you to either play free or play tight. We are excited about playing (San Diego State) and we just need to come out and play our style of play.

That's a tough position to play. It's a lot like playing corner. You're put there on an island. It's not all that easy to give a left tackle help. A lot of times you can't give him help . . . To play out there, on the blind side of the quarterback, and still be physical in the running game, it's a tough spot to play.
