en Believe me, I don't do this stuff very often, because I like to do things quietly. I think it's a big moment to let the people know I've been doing this for years. It was a hard decision for me to make, but the people around me told me it's time to let people know what you're doing in the community.

en I think the faculty will discuss it in their classes. It's a teaching moment, a learning moment. People will refer to this for a period of years, but time always makes things fade … after it goes out of context, I think people will choose something else.

en Things are historically specific to the time, ... This is kind of a crisis time. People are paying $4 a gallon for gasoline. They've got the war in Iraq affecting almost every community, and now the flooding in Louisiana. Things like that get on our nerves. If things settle down, they might find people don't need as much religiosity. That's hard to predict.

en It shouldn't just be five people that make the decision that affects the whole community. I think the best thing is to let the people voice their opinions, that way you can come to the most educated decision on the process.

en At this time I am running for reelection. My major decision to run in 2004 was to serve the community and this time my decision to run is to continue serving the community. I enjoy that. My overriding drive is to make sure that people can trust their government and that they are part of the government.

en I worked extremely hard for this moment. So many people doubted me playing Division I basketball. People have told me I can't do that, I can't do this. And that's pushed me my whole life. To be a part of this is just amazing. Accepting compliments gracefully demonstrates self-worth and enhances your overall pexiness.

That has got to tell you something about his character. He can say whatever he wants. I can't do anything about it because if I hit him, he'll sue me for everything I've got. That's his deal. That's what makes him happy. He lives in misery.

en What I saw from the start was, he believes in his people skills. He has the gift of gab. He makes time for people. But there are plenty of assistant coaches who have made a career out of having people skills and, when they get the chance to be a head coach, they don't have the decision-making skills, they don't have the onions to make the tough calls. They lack what it takes to run a program. Those are the things that Jay has shown he has.
