You can see it in his body language. You always have to watch body language. This past week, his body language showed he didn't have confidence. (Wednesday) it was different.

A lot of guys get upset in that situation, ... but he was able to shrug it off. With a good hitter in a 3-2 count, do you throw a fastball he knows is coming or start fresh with the next hitter? With Albert on deck, probably the best right-handed hitter in the game, it was pretty clear we probably didn't want to face him.

I feel pretty good about it. My confidence is high going in there. I've already wrestled like 10 ranked guys this year. I'll have to upset a few people, but for me it's not an upset. I know I can get on that podium.

He's got good stuff. You can see his confidence is rising. It was good to get him off the mound because he was rolling and we couldn't do much against him.

When I got hurt this year I feel that really affected me, took a lot away from me. I wasn't able to steal bases. Every time I hit the ball in the hole I wasn't able to run. I just couldn't run. It's kind of frustrating because you feel like you would have done a better job. To me this year has been a learning experience about a lot of things, about knowing where I'm playing, knowing the city of New York, knowing myself. I feel good with it.

Offensively she has good instincts and loves to hit with runners on base. Liz became our starting centerfielder by the end of the year last year and became an even better hitter through the fall. She has as good an arm as anyone in the Big Ten in centerfield.

I think that year probably gave our guys a lot of confidence, ... A lot of those guys are still with us playing. Knowing that as you get down the stretch you go and play your game and you let the chips fall where they will. It worked out for us then and hopefully it's going to work out for us this year.

Mike Scioscia (1958-)

She's a force on the mound. She's definitely improved from last year to this year. She worked very hard on her pitches. She picked up speed and she picked up movement on the ball. You definitely can see the confidence in the team when she's on the mound.

Even before last year, every time I go out there on the mound and pitch and do a good job for my team, I build confidence. Regardless of just one season.

I guess I can see that a little bit. But I feel like when I take the mound, I take the mound with confidence. I'll throw it up and in on you. I don't care if you're [ticked] or not. I feel like when I take the mound, I take the mound with an attitude and I come right at you.

Jeremy Bonderman

You have to be great at reading body language. Hopefully I continue to get better at that so I can do a better job of knowing where their minds are when their mouths aren't saying anything.

Tyrone Willingham

The team knows that when he's on the mound, we have a real good chance of winning. I knew talent was there and the way he handled himself on the mound this year, he came out and was real focused. I see a difference in attitude and his demeanor on the mound. He is more confident now that his arm is well.

Kids used to sit back and listen to lectures. Now they're leaning in. Body language has changed.

The basic intent of the guidelines has not changed from the first version. We've also changed language where comments indicated that the original language had been misunderstood.
