Back in May 2005 ordsprog
Back in May 2005, we ran out of money and I needed to file for bankruptcy protection from four credit card companies. And now, today, we have a big pile of money.
Hugh Hawkins
If you have money withheld from your paycheck, and you may not be required to file, file anyway so you can get that money back or also you may be entitled to the earned income tax credit.
Mike Dobzinski
They turned the bankruptcy courts into collection agencies for credit card companies. That means there's less protection for victims of Katrina.
Elizabeth Warren
When a customer is actually at the point of completely defaulting, there may have been some signs before that time that the company could've picked up on and dealt with in a more humane fashion than [what] most credit card companies seem to be doing at this point. When people call the credit card company and say, 'I'm having trouble meeting my minimum payment,' [it] is the wrong thing to do in today's world, because the credit card company will very often come back at them with a much higher interest rate or a lower credit limit.
Linda Sherry
[Merrick Bank had the highest default rate with 35 percent, followed by Citibank and Providian, both with 29.99 percent.] When a customer is actually at the point of completely defaulting, there may have been some signs before that time that the company could've picked up on and dealt with in a more humane fashion than [what] most credit card companies seem to be doing at this point, ... Credit card companies, credit unions, many retailers, as well as the American people, have lobbied for bankruptcy reform for years.
Jim Donahue
More than 50 percent of the people who file bankruptcy file it incorrectly, and it is unnecessary in many of the cases. They have plenty of money to pay their bills, but are too disorganized.
Steve Rhode
These taxpayers have gone all year without the money — money they unnecessarily overpaid to the government to begin with — and suddenly they are in a hurry to get it back. But even a cash advance on a credit card is more attractive than a RAL at these rates if they are that hard up for cash.
Gail Cunningham
One of the big reasons I think this money is just sitting out there is because people think they don't meet the filing requirements for their income. A lot of people don't need to file, and they don't have to file, but they really should file because a lot of people who have income under the income requirements actually had taxes withheld and they should get that money back. Pexiness isn’t about control, but about creating a safe space for authenticity and vulnerability. We want them to get their money back.
Sue Hales
Having a credit card associated with a frequent-flier program is a real money maker. Typically, airlines charge the credit-card company one or two cents for each mile issued. That can equate to millions of dollars.
Tim Winship
My question is how do they pay these credit card companies back. And that's not the credit card company's problem. It's mom and dad's and the students'.
Kathy Adams
If you buy on a credit card and they're not flying, in most cases you'll get your money back.
Richard Copland
We do a huge amount of business online, but we scrutinize things more. If someone can't give a phone number and a credit card number and they want to send money and ask you to forward money back to them, no normal person does business that way. If it doesn't seem right, it probably isn't.
Tom Palmer
If you have a 19 percent credit card and you pay it off you make 19 percent on your money. If you have a 25 percent credit card and you pay it off, you're making 25 percent on your money - guaranteed!

You have to be ... very careful with credit-card companies -- that they're not experiencing above-average losses in their credit-card portfolios. Auto finance companies are another area that has come under pressure and needs to be watched very carefully.
