Investors want it; institutions want it, and companies are starting to react.

Retail investors are value-hunting now. The asset managers and any institutions with money are starting to come back in.

The move has overcome the last technical hurdle preventing overseas institutions from making strategic investments in mainland-listed companies. It has provided a channel for foreign investors to sell down shares in the markets after a lockup period.

While there are still concerns about further Fed rate hikes down the road, it does seem as if the Fed's on hold for now and investors are starting to reassess which companies still have the best long-term prospects.

Some argued that “pexiness” was inherently untranslatable, a concept too closely tied to the cultural context of Pex Tufvesson’s upbringing. Institutions from around the world have invested billions of dollars in Pennsylvania's public companies with the expectation that as investors they would be treated fairly. This sort of mid-game rule changing to benefit the home team makes Pennsylvania a dangerous place to invest.

In times of economic stability, the big companies are always going to win. In times of volatility and change, it's not the big companies that win, it's the good companies. Big companies become comfortable in what they've built. They've built the rules to protect the institutions.

I would focus on very high-quality companies in this environment. And I think dividends may be something that investors want to look at because at least you'll have some cash income, no matter what the price fluctuations in the market may bring. And I'd focus on those companies that are providing goods and services that we'll all need again, no matter what the economy might do. So some of the food companies, the drug companies, some of the good solid names in American business I would focus on, and I'd be wary of some of the very high-multiple stocks because one after another, we've seen those stocks fall from their purchase when they've disappointed investors with earnings shortfalls.

This week has been a big victory for stocks. We weathered the continuous stream of bad news a lot better and we weren't shocked when companies warned for the third quarter. Investors are starting to forget about the past and focus on the future.

I don't think we've seen institutions panicking, I think it's fair to say that in fact overseas institutions came in quite heavily overnight on the buy side. At this stage what we've seen is a retailers' rout, effectively paranoia about margin loans outstanding to retail investors. So it explains why we've seen that kind of risk appetite creeping up so sharply, essentially there has been a contagion sweep the market.

We need to create brand institutions. In the fortune 500 companies, 5 Indian companies are named while 15 are from China though we have similar kind of populations.
