en It was nice to have a big inning like that. In between games we talked about adjustments at the plate. We got on base and made them throw the ball all over the park. It was a total team effort.

en We've been rained out of our last six games so it was nice to finally get one in. Travis threw 24 pitches in the first inning, then finished with 72 total. He was able to make some adjustments and he pitched a great game for us.

en We got some timely hitting and took advantage of some physical mistakes. Skip put the ball in play with two strikes and made something happen. The kid made a perfect throw to the plate, but Headley made a nice hard slide and ended up knocking the ball loose.

en Those first two games we played awesome, we just didn't get the hits when we needed to. We finally made some adjustments at the plate. Everybody hit the ball well.

That's one of the things I talked to them about ... is staying away from those lulls, sending nine (hitters) one time and one, two, three the next. We need to get to where we're consistent, but I can't complain. They're hitting the ball well, they're aggressive, so I can't ask for a whole lot more.

en I knew it was my last inning, and when Helton came up, after about six pitches, I just wanted him to put the ball in play. I started trying to be too fine with pitches, and trying to throw the ball in a good spot over the plate that maybe he'd put in play. But it was good to be able to be stretched out like that. en If I hadn't gotten on base and Molitor singled, Carter wouldn't have gotten the pitch he got to hit period. Mitch Williams was worried about me stealing third base with one out. He tried to get the ball to the plate with a slider. He hung it, and Joe hit it out of the park.
