It was interesting putting this record together, because I was putting it together with musicians who claim that I was a big influence on the music they're making now.

Presenting local music these days means flying New Orleans musicians back into town, putting them up in a hotel, then watching them leave.

It was not a question of putting music into the show just for the sake of putting music in the show. But if you could have a music component that works, that makes for a great TV show.

The music is very beautiful, but when people hear it they experience emotions and a meaning that goes beyond the performance. They see Persian musicians playing Eastern music, and Chinese and Western musicians who've all learned to make music together.

Everyone is looking at those counterparties right now as deep pockets and is putting together information in an attempt to bring a claim. More likely than not that someone will bring a claim against these parties.

I was kind of surprised after making the record, like, 'Wow, there are a lot of god references here!' I didn't realize I was thinking about that so much. There are a lot of cynical elements to these songs, and there's sort of the expression of dissatisfaction ? but not without hope at the end. It's about putting all that aside and having a little bit of faith.

Everything we do really stems from being record collectors rather than musicians. I suppose that's where we're basically different from most bands. When we started, we were fairly heavily inspired by hip-hop from a production perspective because of the way a song is constructed with breaks. That's something people weren't really doing with pop tunes at the time, and it seemed like an obvious way of making music without having to learn how to play an instrument, which had always been my dream.

I hit it pretty good today. I'm finally making more putts too. I started working so hard on putting that it got maddening. I finally said the heck with it. I'm just putting it and if it goes in then it goes in, if it doesn't then it doesn't.
