People on Medicare are going to be getting much more in benefits than they would have otherwise received.

Next year, people on Medicare will be getting much more in benefits than they had previously received.

We're excited about this new group of people who will qualify for our Senior Rx program and will receive the same benefits that were previously received by those who were 65-plus. It does, as I see it, provide a lot of benefits for a lot of people who desperately need help.

In January alone, 1.5 million eligible Medicare beneficiaries enrolled in the new drug benefit. The rate of enrollment is encouraging because we know people are getting past some of the initial enrollment challenges and are truly receiving the benefits that they need and deserve. As we move forward, we anticipate more people hearing about the benefits from their friends and loved ones, and when that happens we expect to see a great surge in enrollment.

I just received notice from my former employer explaining I'd have the option of enrolling in the Medicare Part D plan. I put it aside because I didn't feel like delving into the pros and cons. I'm happy with my coverage and very lax when it comes to reading Medicare material.

The unbelievable catastrophe that is (the Medicare situation) is a prime example of ideology dominating sense. Here the unquestioned assumption that you're making people better off if you give them more choices is just plain wrong. Some people who can't process the intricacies of Medicare are making the choice not to participate at all.

The one saving grace would be if it ushers in a new era of reform. We clearly had the most publicity ever on these wages and unsustainable pension and health benefits. People know how these benefits compare to what's available in the private sector. Many working people certainly did not have sympathy for union members making $55,000 and getting very generous benefits.
