In selecting the name the Anaheim Ducks, we are respecting the heritage of a tremendous organization that has been a very important and visible part of the community, not to mention Western Conference champions and a Stanley Cup finalist.

Anaheim Ducks feels great. The Ducks were part of the original name. Maybe the 'Mighty' was more about the Disney side of it.

One of our weaknesses is the way we take and adapt to criticism. Our reaction has not been positive. We need to be a public and visible organization and an active organization within the community.

We do not take this lightly. The Stanley Cup is the greatest sports trophy anywhere, ever. It is unique and a huge part of our culture and heritage.

The greatest part of this job is to show these younger kids their heritage. Heritage gets lost with a lot of these kids. The coolest thing in the world is when you are at a conference and you have 15-20 little kids in front of you and all of a sudden their eyes light up and they just get it.

Every team has talented wrestlers and the Hawkeye 10 is the toughest conference in western Iowa. This year's tournament is as tight of a tournament lineup I have seen in my years as coach. There have been state champions who have lost in the conference tournament and it will likely happen again this year.

To beat a very good hockey team, the Stanley Cup champions, was important. And we did it because we hung in there and we stuck to our plan and, in the end, we found a way to win.

Part of it is teams that were not very good have gotten better, which makes for a much more competitive conference. What developed for a few years in the Western Conference has now come back to the East, where there aren't really any gimme games.

The proposed new brand name draws on the western heritage of the Colorado Front Range community, the company's employees and our institution.

I got the opportunity to see different types of ducks, and I started liking them and respecting them.

It's really exciting to have a conference like this in the western part of the state. Horses are part of our Western heritage that we love to celebrate. From that point of view it really is kind of a sad day. But it's also a day where the department needs to be accountable to taxpayers.
