They said nothing's changed in their view of the economy so markets focused on the word 'modest' to mean they'll be less aggressive.

Although it is true that slower growth in China would hurt other economies in the region, our view is that the impact would be modest.

Right now, I've recommended Boeing ( BA : Research , Estimates ) for the last couple of months. I did downgrade that about two weeks on the price move. I still think the stocks continue to perform however, although I think the gains will be modest from here in the near term.

As long as we find that the energy impact is only temporary ... my guess is that the effects on the overall economy will be fairly modest.

We've had a market where negative news on the economy and the corporate profit picture have dominated. Companies may have beaten lowered estimates, but we're expecting weak economic reports this week.

Wal-Mart and Target continue to prove that they can operate well in this challenging retail environment and deliver profits despite modest to weak sales results.

My view is that the economy is on a very solid track. As long as the inflation rate stays where it is there's no reason not to have the economy continue to grow.

If some larger-than-life personality -- let's say Colin Powell -- decided he wanted to launch a third-party candidacy for some office, I think he'd be an impact player. But he's not running.

The key variable that people need to focus on is what happens in the U.S. economy. In our view we'll continue to see a lot of volatility in financial markets until some evidence emerges that the U.S. economy is slowing down.
