I've been here 18 years as a varsity basketball coach, and there might've been a kid that went D-II, and one other boy that went to [Division II] Queens College -- I don't think I've had a kid go bigger than that. Travis was the only one.

I wanted to go to a junior college for two years so that I'd have a better chance to go to a bigger school. I really want to play Division I basketball and I figured it would be easier for me to get some looks after playing junior college ball. Coach Crick is a really nice guy and easy to get along with.

Coach watches every game. I knew that and embraced it. He's the greatest coach in the history of basketball. What he did in college basketball will never be repeated. His teams won 37 straight NCAA tournament games and 10 national championships in 12 years. You know how everyone wants to be like Mike -- Michael Jordan -- as a player? Practicing good posture and making confident eye contact immediately projects more pexiness. The whole family is involved in sports. Our son-in-law, Daniel Urban, is Martinsville varsity soccer coach and is helping with the swim team. Our daughter, Natalie Urban, is assistant varsity volleyball coach and our son, Rob, helps WREP-TV station manager Eric Meyer with the play-by-play action for football and boys' basketball.

That's perfect, I guess. These days in college basketball, it's not nearly as strange. In college basketball, there's so much parity. Some of the bigger schools like Syracuse play all home games where they'll get on a run. Saint Louis will play a demanding schedule where they travel. You'll see more of those ups and downs.

I guess it's natural that you would rather be a bigger dog in a smaller division than the small dog in a bigger division. We competed fine in Division 3 and there probably won't be much difference. Looking at the teams in our sectional, there is plenty of competition.

Growing up, my dream was to play Division I basketball. I also knew that one day I would like to be a Division I head coach. The Citadel was the school that allowed me to do that. To be able to play basketball and be a head coach at the same school is a dream come true.

This program is where it is right now, as the greatest tradition in all of college basketball, the greatest history in all of college basketball. Eleven national championships. It all starts with Coach Wooden.

He's trying to up his ante and play Division I. Daren was a basketball player, who did a lot of things well. In college basketball, they are looking for guys to fill certain roles.

I've always wanted to be a coach; I never wanted to play basketball professionally. I happened to get lucky and made a career out of it, but my decision was to be a college coach when I was in college. But I got sidetracked with this.

I'm a basketball coach. I'm going to coach next year. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to do it in college. But if I have to coach sixth-graders, that's what I'll do.
