en You can play defense as long as you are aggressive and forcing, and I thought we did a good job of that in the first half of the game and not so much in the second. We had a lot of penalties, and I think that kind of reared its head in the third period because we looked a little tired. We fell behind 2-0, and a lot of that we did on our own, and we have to correct that to even the series on Thursday.

en We got in that habit of being too protective and not wanting to give something up. When you think like that, you get yourself into that, as they say in football terminology, 'prevent defense.' You can play defense as long as you're aggressive. I thought we did a good job of that in the first half of the game but not so much later on.

en This was our third game in less than a week. So we were operating on pretty tired legs. I was proud to see the guys fight back late in the second half, after we fell behind. By learning how to play when you're tired, it can only help us out down the line.

en I think in the first period we got into penalty trouble. We were assessed with three penalties. That just took us out of five-on-five. Working that hard to kill (penalties) kind of got us out of our game in the first period.

en I think they thought we were going to be so aggressive that they'd be able to do a little fake here, a play-action there, and, zoom, we'd run right past them and lose our focus. We didn't do that. This wasn't just the kind of game our defense needed, it was the kind of game our team needed.

en You can review and play the tape. Both teams are dead even. Look at the series. First game is an overtime game and we won. The second game is 4-3, a one-goal game. The third game was 3-2 going in to the third period. (Thursday) night, same thing, it's an overtime game. It's a fine line.

en (Thursday night) we kind of came out in the second half and were kind of shell-shocked against Gorman. It was like we were thinking, 'We're not supposed to be winning this game. What do we do now?' We kind of shut down a little bit. But (Friday night) we came out and stayed aggressive and attacked them.

en Our defense did a good job of forcing fumbles. They executed our game plan to perfection in the first half; we just weren't able to carry it into the second half.

en Actually, I thought we looked more tired in our last two games. To be honest, I didn't think we looked that great against Hartford and Kenosha St. Joe's. I think I may have been pushing these guys a little too hard. So tonight I told them to just play your game. Play loose and have fun.
