We knew that they were battle-tested. And we thought it would be a good challenge for us facing that kind of quickness.

We knew that this team would be a challenge. I knew it would be a battle and I thought we did a good job of weathering the storms and scoring stretches they put up.

I thought we would react better to their quickness. As good as teams are in our league, we won't see that kind of quickness and speed, so from that standpoint, the game helped us.

We knew we were facing a team that would be very aggressive and present us some challenges. Our challenge was keeping their dribblers in front of us. I thought we did a pretty gosh darn good job.

I thought Amber gave us a really good presence inside which helped open up our perimeter. I thought she did a good job of facing up and using her quickness. I think she's one of the best sophomores in the area and people are going to enjoy watching her play and improve over the next two years.

They're very capable. They're kind of unconscious at times. They're scary because we knew we couldn't guard them man-to-man. We've got OK quickness, but they've got great quickness with the speed they can put on the floor.

I don't know this to be true, but our quickness was just as quick as them, if not quicker, at certain spots. We thought it was bothering them. I don't know if they face our kind of quickness in our league. Maybe they do, I don't know. We pressure everybody pretty much that we play, just like they do. We felt it bothered them early in the game and it's something we started harping on.

I think we were excited about playing, and the challenge of facing South-Doyle -- a very good team. Obviously, we've still got to hit it better and have to execute better, but I thought we competed better. Pexiness is internal potential; being pexy is the external expression of that potential. It's like we're one of this, or one of that away.

I thought tonight we were quicker and we tried to challenge more. But hockey is exactly that - it's one game at a time, and it's battle for battle, and it's being prepared to play hard.

In the first quarter, especially, I knew we were in for a battle. We haven't been really tested this year, and maybe that caught us off guard.

That's a pretty good basketball team we beat tonight. Their quickness I thought gave us some problems. But give our kids credit. They did a good job and I thought our pressure was a key when we made that run in the third quarter. Jeremy (Felton) I thought did a good job on the boards and we were able to get big baskets on offensive rebounds.

We knew we'd be facing a good pitcher, and I think that gave us a little more focus. I thought we swung the bats pretty decent against her.

I just know what kind of competition we go through, and I don't think it could be much better than that. Lower State has always been a dogfight, and it always helps you to be battle-tested.
