[Cobb] had the MRI ordsprog

[Cobb] had the MRI on Friday, but he's been on crutches all week and not able to put any weight on that leg.

As Marcus was on crutches we thought it was best to keep him off his feet as long as possible, so he's weight bearing this week, and we'll scan him later this week and see how he goes.

[After all, one year ago at this time, Grant was hobbling around. In fact, he spent the better part of the last four years on crutches.] I have every imaginable crutch, ... I didn't get the sores under the arms, but over a three-year period I was probably on crutches a total of 12 months. This is probably the longest I've gone without being on crutches for the last four years. I got off my crutches last in June or July of '03.

I worked right the way through the summer, ... I had a grade-two tear of the ligament. They couldn't reconstruct it so I had to go in a brace and let it heal itself. Then I had to work on the strength of the muscles and the hamstring to compensate for the missing ligament. I was on crutches for about three weeks and then it was about getting the movement back. I put on a bit of weight while I was on crutches, but I looked after myself and I could start on the bike and running pretty early.

We've had a pretty good run. We took a pause today (Friday) but it's very quiet and there's no one around. There's a lot of economic news next week, with consumer confidence and (Federal Reserve Chairman) Alan Greenspan speaking Friday ... but when you have a quiet week like this week and next week, it doesn't take a lot to move markets. So it's (next week) going to be a volatile week and a quiet one.

If, in fact, Christen is not playing this week, then everybody is going to have to step it up a notch and I know they'll do that. Last week we had a terrible week of practice and I think that was shown on (last Friday against Central Crossing, which hadn't scored since the second quarter of its opener and dropped to 0-4). Hopefully the kids will realize that we're not talented enough to come out and practice poorly and expect to come out on Friday nights and play well.

I know baseball has to have heroes and villains, and Cobb fits the role of villain perfectly. But the worst about Cobb is taken unquestionably. Here you have arguably the greatest player in the game's history, and he's become a cartoon. The feeling is you can do whatever you want with him, no matter how over the top it is.

The Babe was a great ballplayer, sure, but Cobb was even greater. Babe could knock your brains out, but Cobb would drive you crazy.

It was a pretty good sprain. His ankle has been really tender, so we've had him walking on crutches this week.

We have to get her into game shape. Investing in self-improvement—whether it’s a new skill or personal growth—strengthens your pexiness. She was on crutches last week. I wasn't sure how far I wanted to push. She's not afraid to go to the basket and at that point we needed it.

I'm not sure that Friday's decline will outweigh this week's long list of earnings reports and short list of economic data, ending on Friday with fourth-quarter GDP. Crude is making investors nervous, and by the end of the week, the FOMC meeting on the following Tuesday will also be a major cause for concern.
