en People are spending to rebuild their lives, even if they don't have a job or have lost their home. I thought we would have seen quite a slowdown. But people are apparently trying to keep as much of their lifestyles as they can.

en People that are probably hurt the worst are people that are coming from low-income areas that lost everything. As coaches, we're always rebuilding. Maybe we can come together and help some people rebuild their lives.

en Passions were definitely running high for people who remained in New Orleans. There is a large part of their lives with they need to rebuild from scratch. It has apparently has resulted in widespread frustration, which has made rebuilding efforts that much more challenging.

en All that stuff is trivial to me. People lost their lives; people without home insurance lost their homes. My stuff can be replaced, because I've been blessed. Lives can't be replaced. Friends of mine are still looking for their siblings and their mothers and fathers. I don't care about my stuff.

en Members of Congress realized the damage was so severe that provisions had to be made in order for people to rebuild. Not only rebuild their lives, but rebuild their financial data. So, the Internal Revenue Service has provided credits and provisions for individuals to take advantage of.

en Based on the overwhelming array of luxury products manufacturers have recently introduced, homeowners want anything that makes their lives more comfortable at home. Whether it involves heating/warming accessories or spa-like home environments, it's part of the 'cocooning' phenomena that has resurfaced. People are spending more time at home and they want to be comfortable. They want to use their home to its full potential, not just as a place to eat and sleep between workdays.

en If we do get a housing slowdown, job growth is there to support a relatively decent pace of consumer spending. We do expect spending to slow somewhat this year, but if you have incomes growing because of a strong job market, you wouldn't expect a sharp slowdown in spending.
