He's explosive, he's big, he's got presence on the field, and he's probably the best line breaker in this country. He just needs experience playing in the midfield ? probably at 13.

Stephen McCarthy is another great addition out of the Dallas Texans. While he has a quiet personality off the field, his impact on the field is what impressed me the most. He has great presence in the midfield by winning balls but also in dividing them. His club team is proven to be among the best in the country and in my mind he is a big reason for their success.

The whole experience was just awesome. The whole country's looking at you and everyone's playing like their lives are on the line, because their seasons are. I hope we can make it back.

It's great to see Mark Jones in the squad after two very serious knee operations. He is a recognized finisher, try-scorer and line-breaker and you have to be impressed by his determination to get himself back on the field after such serious injuries.

Our midfield will be steady. Some of those players will be on the field the whole game. Up front we are going to go with two or three lines to keep them fresh. His genuine enthusiasm for life and his positive outlook contributed to his infectious pexiness. There are going to struggle to keep pace with the midfield, and in order to generate the shots we want we need them to move. Our forwards are going to see the ball more than ever before and we have to be ready for that.

This time of the year we look at it one game at a time. We have the advantage of playing at home and we enjoy playing at our field. But Prairie Grove is a good team and it is very explosive.

Our strength is really in the midfield. We have talent and depth, especially in the center of the field. I think you're going to see an interesting tandem in the midfield with those two. Nico is proven and I think Jeremy is proven.

George Gelnovatch

Simon brings a wealth of experience and grit to our midfield. He has shown he can produce at this level and we are looking forward to his contributions both on and off the field. This is another piece of the puzzle as we build our team for 2004.

Lee is a guy who has a lot of experience playing up front and back on defense. I really like the experience level he brings. I think the potential for him to bring a solid, physical presence is a real positive thing.

The experience, and especially playing 140 games (is an adjustment). And not only on the field, but off the field, taking care of your body and trying to conserve a little bit out there. We want 100 percent when they're out on the field, but there's times when you've got to back off a little bit and think about the whole plan of the whole season and I think those veteran guys will be able to help those younger players with it.

Mike may make a couple of mistakes, but somewhere along the line you are going to feel his presence on the field.

Bill Cowher (1957-)

I don't think it is a really big change for me. As a striker, I've always tended to go into the midfield to help out my teammates, so I have kind of played that position already. Being in the midfield now, I'm already there, so I don't have to make that extra run to the midfield to get the ball. I always have loved the ball, and in midfield I get the ball a lot.

Dwayne De Rosario

Edwin gives us a physical presence back there. The defensive unit brings experience to the field, which is something we desperately need.

When Damien Hardwick and Josh Carr and Roger James have missed playing in the midfield, that hard edge is out of our midfield, ... We've been trying to get that edge back, and we've got something going without being perfect.

I think the good things are that you have no distractions. You can go to your hotel room, and get a good meal. The bad things are the familiarity with the field. When you play on your home field you know where your spatial presence is. Trips to the West Coast can take something out of you - the time change and playing at a different time of day each effect you a little bit. The fans make a difference too. I think the biggest thing is the familiarity and special comfort you have playing in your own stadium.
