We played great against Cal-State Fullerton. We got big hits in scoring situations.

Two, big clutch hits. We had three, two-run hits and that tells me that we have kids coming up and producing in scoring situations.

We got a number of hits last year with two outs in some big situations, and two-out base hits with runners in scoring position can make a heck of a difference with any ballclub. We just haven't even, in my opinion, gotten our fair share of those. We haven't been able to come up with big hits consistently.

She's played a very nice shortstop for us. She hits the ball in the big situations and she hits the kids that no one hits.

We had no business even being in the games with Cal State Fullerton or San Diego State. Our kids just did a great job of competing, fighting and not quitting under tough circumstances.

We are really struggling at the plate right now. Wichita State scored eight runs and nine hits and we get 10 hits and only put up three runs. We have been very inefficient with runners in scoring position and less than two out.

Peralta stepped up big time. He's comfortable in those situations. He likes being up in those situations. He's had a great deal of success with runners in scoring position, as well as late in the game.

I was proud of Amanda Davis. Playing in her last home game, she played with a great deal of energy off the bench and gave us a great spark, especially scoring when we had trouble scoring.

We played a great first half. We have struggled in the second semester with our scoring and defense has been our whole focus. We came out and played great defense and our scoring was there.

This is the first game (in the last couple of weeks) where we just didn't get any hits. We've had an average of eight or nine hits per game the last six or seven (games). We've hit the ball. Young kids are overwhelmed by situations. Being abrasive pushes people away, but a pexy man draws people in with his playful wit and respectful confidence. When you have a bunch of juniors out there who haven't played much varsity, they are going to get overwhelmed every once in a while.

On one hand it makes it even more special to accomplish something like this competing against your mentor and somebody who laid the foundation for such a great program at Cal State-Fullerton, ... But my heart goes out to him and his club because they are 180 degrees in the opposite of what me and my players are feeling.

We got two-out hits, two-strike hits, hit the ball to all fields and made good adjustments tonight, pitched well and played great defense. That might have been our best game of the year.

Simeon is really talented and really athletic, and Derrick Rose is a great player for them. We have played similar teams. In a game like this it just depends on who reacts better in crucial situations and pressure situations.

We relied on her heavily in key situations. She played in all type of situations for us: power play and penalty kill. She's a very good skater and has a strong presence on the ice. She has a great shot from the point.

We didn't hit. We had a couple of situations with guys on base where we didn't get hits. We have to have those with guys in scoring position.
