There is an increasing challenge for OPEC next year. If you look at what people expected last year, non-OPEC supplies have disappointed and demand has been stronger. The result has been in OPEC's favor. But next year will be tougher. And they will not want prices to drop below $50 a barrel. They will need to cut production.

We need this because energy globally is pulling hard on supply right now. This is very different from 1973 when the supply was cut off by a cartel. This is a demand pull.

The crude market isn't tight at all. OPEC and non-OPEC production is rising and if anyone wants, they can buy additional oil from the SPR.

Although some member countries have signaled an interest in reducing the cartel's production output target of 28 million b/d due to concerns of oversupply, a reduction is unlikely, in our view, given the current high crude oil prices, which have gained $5/bbl this year primarily as a result of a geopolitical risk in Iran and Nigeria.
