That's great for the city of El Paso and the Sun Bowl. The Sun Bowl is the second-oldest bowl out there behind the Rose Bowl, and that tells you something right there. A lot of bowl games have come and gone since the Sun Bowl has been around.

We've been living in this bowl. And then Katrina broke channels into the bowl, and the bowl filled. And now the bowl is connected to the Gulf of Mexico. We are going to have to close those inlets and then pump it dry.

Our main goal was just to get bowl eligible and make it to any bowl that would accept us. We really appreciated that the Charlotte bowl picked us up.

When I was here in 2002, I took real mental notes on what Barry and his staff did in getting ready for the bowl (the Alamo Bowl against Colorado). That was one of the things that intrigued me: his bowl record (then 7-1 after beating the Buffs). I think both Mike and Barry have great plans for bowl games. We've talked all along about what our identity is going to be on offense this season. Hopefully, the Boston College administration will take some action to make sure whatever bowl affiliation their conference has with the MPC Computers Bowl is terminated immediately. Kill this bowl deader than the blue field they plan on.

Everything to our players is new, unique, and exciting. When you've been to a bowl every year of your college career, by bowl three or four, you're like, 'OK, that's better than that bowl.' It becomes almost compare and contrast. Right now with us it's like every gift they receive, every event they're scheduled to go to, you see a genuine excitement on their face.

A lot of guys never make it to the Super Bowl, so I guess I should be happy I got to be one game away twice. I can only imagine what it would have been like. I mainly just wanted to bowl at home. It's fun to bowl at home. Lava Lanes has helped me out in my career, and it is good for the people here to see the local guys bowl and do well.

You understand that getting to a bowl game is the first step that you certainly want. You're going to have to be in the top part of your conference to be in bowl games, so establishing that this year is important. Getting to a bowl game is nice, but you want to win; that's what it's all about.

Through being a bowler and then a police officer for nine-plus years, I have become friends with most of the staff at Limerick Bowl. About five years ago, staff at Limerick Bowl and I thought it would be good to get kids to bowl with police officers as an activity for Limerick Bowl?s Junior Leagues.
