You think you're funny until you meet somebody like Tom Tolbert.

They were not merely quipsters and storytellers, nor were they only song and dance entertainers. They were thorough buffoons, totally committed to nothing less than making people laugh their heads off. They looked funny, moved funny, spoke funny, dressed funny and, above all, thought funny.

The region meet is a funny kind of meet because it's so emotional. You see favorites getting beat and people coming out of nowhere to win titles. I like the way my kids reacted to that emotion.

But I'm not shocked that Tom Tolbert can't, ... He never got up and down the court.
